When Planet Earth Was New is a non-fiction book (NF) written by James Gladstone and illustrated by Katherine Diemert. This book discusses what Earth was like when it was first created and how it has evolved since then. Personally, science is my least favorite subject but even I enjoyed this book as it utilized very simple language and was easy to comprehend. In addition, it has STEM connections to biology, geology, evolution, etc.
This book could be great for storytelling (S) because students will be able to tell the story of Earth using illustrations or digital media which will be a fun science and reading activity. Moreover, this book allows the students to learn scientific terms and get a better understanding of our Earth as a whole. 4y
