COMMENT: The belief of the Red Thread in China is really thoughtful and strong. Believe you are destined to a person in life and if you don't, just love yourself that's your own best friend then.

SPOILER: the main's character daughter is dead.

DebinHawaii Welcome to Litsy! 🎉📚👍😀Hope you enjoy it here! 6y
DebinHawaii Also, just FYI Litsy has a spoiler tag (on the same line as 'add image'when you post) that alerts people that haven't read the book that there's a spoiler in your post. I know you have it marked but it's hard to stop your eyes from going further when you are reading--at least for me. 🤣 @RaimeyGallant has a great blog post with other Litsy user tips--the link is in her profile. 6y
RaimeyGallant @DebinHawaii I think I should add a tip to my list about putting the part of a review that's a spoiler in the comments and marking it as such so everyone can still read the rest of the review/blurb. What do you think? 6y

The story of American families adopting babies from China felt exploitative and seemed like a how-not-to-adopt guide. The most interesting chapters were about the Chinese mothers and why they gave up their daughters, but I'd rather hear those stories from a Chinese woman with personal experience.
