"Loving Dostoyevsky means loving literature." (P.36) Today I learned that Dostoyevsky was a rabid anti-Semite. Despite this, he has always had a very large, deliberate Jewish readership. Sontag acknowledges this and writes it off as a kind of quirky datum. Ugh.
