Washed Ashore
Washed Ashore | Kerr Thomson

On a wild Scottish island, a tragedy washes up on the storm-beaten shore: the bodies of a whale and a man. Fraser, desperate for adventure, and Hayley, visiting from Texas, become tangled in the mystery. But Fraser's younger brother Dunny is distraught by the discovery. He hasn't spoken in years, and lately he's been acting more strangely than ever. Together, the three meet a man living in the abandoned caves nearby. They start to wonder if he might lie at the center of something darker than they had previously thought. For the whispering sea conceals a terrible secret, and to discover the truth, one of them must learn to listen...

#gratitude30 #art I love outdoor art installations, and we‘ve been fortunate to have some great exhibitions come through the botanical garden where I volunteer. None has affected me like Washed Ashore: Art to Save the Sea. I learned so much from these beautiful but disturbing sculptures composed entirely of materials washed up on Oregon beaches. Grateful for the opportunity to experience this.

DivineDiana This looks like a very powerful exhibit! 5y

My take on #itsbeginning is a bit different today. The exhibit Washed Ashore, sculptures built out of trash washed up on beaches, opens at the botanical garden where I volunteer today. We had a seminar with the artist yesterday and got a preview. I‘m so excited, but I know I‘ll be busy leading tours for the next month. It‘s hard to pick which sculpture to share! #seasonsreadings2017

slategreyskies I would really LOVE to go to see this exhibit! That looks fascinating! I could spend hours looking at all the details on sculptures like that!! 💙 6y
Lynnsoprano @slategreyskies They are fascinating! I learned so much about plastic pollution in the oceans. And the individual objects that make up the sculptures are just crazy! I‘m sure I‘ll use more pictures with my posts over the next couple of months, while the exhibit it here. 6y
slategreyskies I‘d really love to see more! I am passionate about taking care of the earth. I‘m only one person, but even one person can make a difference by making good choices, choosing to use sustainable resources or to reuse instead of dispose of something. I think it‘s really cool that you volunteer there! I might have to see if the museum in the next town over needs volunteers. It had never occurred to me to try to volunteer there before. 6y
