Here I am talking about this book again. I‘m a Byron fangirl basically. If you are a fan too, read this book! It‘s fascinating - the man that was “mad, bad and dangerous to know” marrying the most moral, somewhat uptight, young lady he could find. They were both fairly terrible to each other and it makes for fascinating reading. It was never ordinary, that‘s for sure!

I really enjoyed this. I haven't read a biography quite like it - a little more personal, trying to figure out relationships beyond what their letters purported, perhaps the author was making some leaps in places but I felt she explained her reasoning well enough. And wow this short marriage caused a lot of pain (and London scandal) for many years. Will be interested to read some more about Ada now.

This biography of Byron's doomed marriage to Annabella Milbanke is unexpectedly funny. I'm sure I'll feel sorry for Annabella later but right now I'm wishing I had a correspondent like Byron! I love the fact that he pours out his thoughts to her aunt and they have a right giggly gossip about it all together (all the while the aunt knows he's having an affair with her son's wife!)
