Forgot to post this yesterday 😅

I hate to say it, but for this a so-so is pretty generous. I liked the idea of it a lot more than the execution, and I don't know whether it was down to a below par translation taking away the original version or a poor choice of works... either way, this just about scraped together enough intrigue to make itself a so-so and I don't think I'd ever recomend it.

So after yesterday's stop-start reading at work I've added quite a bit of time, but not a lot of progress 😕 I felt like I was spending as much time finding my place again as I was actually reading!
Still, I've almost finished the tagged, I got an hour of Vindolanda in before work called, and Clockwork Angel is calling to me.

Pastoral poetry selections from the Eclogues and the Georgics. I particularly liked the verses on bees.

A lovely intro to Virgil's pastoral poems. Virgil does write beautifully about nature- I loved The Georgics IV- his description of bees is just outstanding. The earlier sections of the collection were a little flat for me, but perhaps need to be read in their original context to be best appreciated. Not quite the epic of the Aeneid- but beautifully written nonetheless.
