Ranger's Apprentice 6: The Siege Of Macindaw
Ranger's Apprentice 6: The Siege Of Macindaw | John Flanagan
4 posts | 46 read | 3 to read
Will is determined to rescue Alyss - even if it means laying siege to an enemy castle! In this desolate northern fief, where can Will find the fighting men he needs to overcome the traitorous Sir Keren and his band of criminals? Across the border, the fierce Scotti tribesmen are waiting for the signal that Castle Macindaw is in friendly hands, and the way is clear to mount a full-scale attack. Time is running out. Will's courage and ingenuity - and the arrival of an old friend - may be the only things that stand in their way. The sixth book in the Australian and New York Times mega-selling Ranger's Apprentice series.

That moment when you are knee deep in a reading slump so you go back to a series that has never done you wrong. And proceed to read 5 of 10 books in less than 6 hours. I also may or may not have borrowed all of this series and all of the connected series in advance - which is like 20 books…. Whoops 😅

Will, now a Ranger and an expert archer, is using the cover name ‘Will Barton‘. Coincidentally similar to the archer‘s name in the MCU Avenger films.

humouress As Flanagan‘s characters are getting older (Will is now a full Ranger and on his first solo mission) and, presumably, his target audience, he‘s introducing some (mild) swearing. 3y
humouress Flanagan‘s fight scenes are well written and believable. (I say this with great expertise as a veteran of no battles whatsoever, though.) 3y
humouress Horace, and therefore Will and Alyss, are now 16 3y
humouress Somehow I didn‘t find this as compelling as the previous instalments although it was still as readable. Maybe my reading is slowing again? 3y

My 9yo is reading these, so I tried them too. It's like LOTR Lite version. Quick, easy, fun!

Linear I'd caption this " 'step into my parlor', said the spider to the fly". 5y
