“Like I said, that baby is going straight to the moon”
I loved this book! amazing character development and deep meaning!
The picture book, Junkyard Wonders, is about a group of students that all have special abilities. The other kids view them as a junkyard but they know that‘s what makes them special. I love the illustrations in this book and the overall message. Definitely brought me to tears!
“jodi wanted it to be the junkyard wonder, and that‘s what it has to be.”
I love the repetition of Gibby saying the plane is going all the way to the moon, and then in the end he made it possible in a way. It shows everything is possible.
By far one of the best children books I‘ve read. There‘s lots of notable issues discussed in the story: death of a student, illness, trauma, bullying, disabilities, and more. It is a cute, emotional story and could teach children lots of valuable lessons. The book opens up for great conversations that might be hard to discuss otherwise.
By far my new favorite book. It carries such a strong message for children & is so empowering. It idolizes differences & shows success & teamwork despite those differences.

Today I went to the Orange County Library Book Sale in Downtown Orlando and in the Alafaya branch library. I found 20 children‘s hard backs, 11 paper backs, and 2 DVDs for $20! Great way to build the class room library and your own!
Wow! This RF was such a great read with the girl I tutor. Highly functioning but diagnosed with severe autism, she related to this book well and it was a great kick-off into summer reading with her. I would highly recommend reading to students of any age.
Here is a great resource for incorporating this into the classroom:
