Liked the storyline, but the audio narration was not my favorite. Lots of danger and suspense in this second in a trilogy…good lead into the third book. I really cannot say much more without giving the whole story away! #BBRC #YeahBaby #AudiobookAverageLong

I needed a super-fast read and a palate cleanser…Charlie and Diesel were the perfect choice!

A nasty, cruel boss, terrible department heads, and murders keep Charlie and Diesel pretty busy at the library. Sad to say a few characteristics of the murder victim are characteristics I witnessed in my library career. Yikes! Great character progression, and another good series entry!

Most of my sidekicks hovered in the background as I finished it.

The language in this #PictureBook is fun, and I really like the illustrations. Betty has to stay busy all the time and has to remind herself to focus on one task at a time and finish the task. Sage advice. But, I‘m not sure about the message about starting a business. So-so read for me. #BBRC #LetterB

LibrarianRyan It's interesting to see when celebrities' write kids books. The way they mix ideas. I can not remember if I have read this one or not. 6d
Librarybelle @LibrarianRyan Yes! It was an interesting correlation between being busy and using that extra busyness to create a business. I‘m not sure how I felt about that angle for a picture book… 6d

Tatum‘s absolute love for his daughter definitely “sparkles” in this one. Sparkella is starting at a new school and has some issues fitting in—no one understands her personality. Tatum‘s narrative explores identity and being oneself and having the courage to be true to oneself. This #PictureBook would work well for 5-7 year olds. #BBRC #LetterO

LibrarianRyan This is on my list for this year. I am hoping it's good. 6d
Librarybelle @LibrarianRyan My kid lit professor in library school would hate me saying this, but it was cute. She hated picture books being described as cute. But, I cannot think of any other way to describe it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6d
LibrarianRyan @Librarybelle There is nothing wrong with cute. It's what a lot of parents seek. It don't have to be fine literature, kids need cuteness. (Can you tell I would probably not get along with your kid lit professor. Heck I did'nt get along with my own). :) 6d

Librarybelle She‘s the only professor who I did not get along with, @LibrarianRyan . I like the word cute! 6d
marleed I would say my 3-yo girl-boy grand twins most often request the ‘cute‘ books in my extensive picture book collection. 6d
Librarybelle @marleed She had such a clinical perspective on books. I don‘t think she ever consulted kids! I still gravitate towards the “cute” books on the shelves! 6d

Chenoweth‘s rhyming scheme in this #picturebook takes the reader through ways to spread love. It‘s a warm and inviting read, and how can you say no to a pet adoption scene? Messages about adoption and creating your own family help to convey that love knows no boundaries. #BBRC #LetterW

LibrarianRyan I have read this one and enjoyed it as well. 6d

I am terribly behind on my monthly wrap up posts, as well as my half year report…it has not been an easy, healthy week!

First, the #BBRC challenge for 2023-2024 ended on June 30th; I had my best showing ever for this challenge, with 80% completed. Thanks for hosting, @LibrarianRyan ! I‘m already gathering challenges for this year‘s challenge!

LibrarianRyan Nice!!!! I don‘t know if I still have your address. Send it to me and I‘ll send you a prize!! MissRyanaf@gmail.com. 2w

The #BBRC is back for the new year. This is a Fiscal year challenge so it runs July -June. The purpose of the BBRC is to get everyone reading books for all age rangers.

https://app.thestorygraph.com/reading_challenges/e6a3e36d-cb34-4e87-8cf6-e532013...
This years objective: a picture book for every letter of the alphabet - WRITTEN by a celerity. (or about a celebrity if some of the letters are harder, here's looking at you X).

LibrarianRyan Many of the other prompts look at various types of PUNK. Punk definitions, history, subgneras of literature, etc. We also look more at celebrities. Both those who were celebrities before the wrote a book, and those how are celebrities because they write books.

The rest are there to include variety, and make some easier prompts to complete. Yes I do give prizes who complete my reading challenge.

This challenge is about funn and seeing your
3w
LibrarianRyan interpretations of the prompts.

Happy Reading!

LibrarianRyan @monkeygirlsmama YEAHHHHHH. You might make it more then you think since so much of it is quick read kids books. Helps knock's out 30 books pretty quickly. 3w
Librarybelle Signed up!! 3w
LibrarianRyan @Librarybelle Yeahhhhhhh. Let's Rock! 3w
Faranae I said I would sign up and so I have. This will be tough for me just because I can't stand YA and NA, although YA/NA graphic novels are at least over quickly. (Note: nothing wrong with the genres, I just do not enjoy them at all). 3w
LibrarianRyan @Faranae well they are age ranges not genrres and I am willing to help find some you might like. I have the same feelings on NA. I get it but it annoys me. 3w
Faranae @LibrarianRyan YA/NA are in some nebulous territory between genre and age bracket, I find. They have certain traits and themes in common across literary genres, and I think those are part of what are nails on a chalkboard for me about them. I've tried and tried, and even favorite authors' acclaimed YA endeavors have not worked for me, so I'm just resigned to not like them. To be fair, I also hated teenagers when I was one. 😂 3w
LibrarianRyan @Faranae I totally get that. I really do. There is only one teen ager I like so far, and that is only some of the time. 😁 2w

Yes I will be giving away a prize for anyone who finished, and maybe even for those who almost finish.

New challenge is done and I will post soon.

A lovely YA novel about taking chances, finding oneself, and acceptance. I loved the art references throughout the novel! Great pick for #SundayBuddyRead ! #BBRC #TeenAngst #ThrowCautionToTheWind

LibrarianRyan I have heard great things about this book. 3w
