Every night, Kawashima Masayuki creeps from his bed and watches over his baby girl's crib while his wife sleeps. But this is no ordinary domestic scene. He has an ice pick in his hand, and a barely controllable desire to use it. Deciding to confront his demons, Kawashima sets into motion a chain of events seeming to lead inexorably to murder...

2 damaged people get together for a crazy night. The question is which one will end up dead.

A young father plans the ritualistic murder of a prostitute as a way to dispel his perverse desire to harm his child. The prostitute has serious issues of her own, and their various traumas collide in a mutual psychological breakdown. Good times. Not Murakami‘s best, but suitably weird, scary, suspenseful, and unpredictable, with a strong dose of sympathy for the characters. He‘s an acquired taste, but he takes you places no one else does.

I figured the other ear needed a little love, so when I went to the piercing shop for some jewelry changes last night, I decided to get a couple more holes poked in my head as well. PSA: conch piercings hurt much more than daith piercings. You're welcome. And ouch. 😄 So, after these heal for a few months, what should I poke next? 😒 Aside: why are so many bookish people also into piercings and tattoos? 🤔 #icanstopwheneveriwant #noicant

Chelleo Pretty jewelry! I have 3 piercings in one ear, 2 in the other and 1 tattoo on my foot. Planning on one (maybe 2) more before the year is out 7y
Jess7 I have my rook pierced. I hide it with my hair most of the time so most people don‘t know. That‘s about the only part of your ear you don‘t have pierced in this pic. I may have just given you an idea. 🤓😂 I got it done when I was 18 just before college. I would remove it, but it hurt so much when I got it done, I haven‘t been able to part with it yet. 🤣 (edited) 7y
LittlePixels @Chelleo Thanks! What are you planning? And what's your tattoo? I don't have any, but I've been planning a very specific one for quite some time. I'd also love a bookish tattoo, but haven't found the right one yet. 7y

LittlePixels @jess7 I'd love a tiny little hoop in my rook, but I'm not sure if they can do it without interfering with the daith piercing. I've also considered the snug, and maybe a large piece of gemmed jewelry in the flat. Or the tragus...so many choices! I know... all of the above! #pierceallthethings Wait... #piercemostofthethings 😂 7y
Chelleo @LittlePixels I have a small red scorpion. Looking to get a heart made of my husband and sons initials and a book stack / heartbeat line or open book next 7y
LittlePixels @Chelleo I love those ideas! I want to get kind of a wreath of hearts around my ankle, with a heart for all my babies, including the ones we lost. Then I was trolling Instagram just now and saw a tattoo of a baby's actual footprint and went 😮. I'd love to get a watercolor tattoo of my first baby's footprint (he was a preemie who didn't survive). 7y
Chelleo @LittlePixels I‘ve seen those and that would be a beautiful 💞💞💞 7y

Look what I did! 😊 Only the daith #piercing is new, but I decided it was time to update my jewelry as well. I may be an introverted little bookworm, but I have a bit of a hidden badass inside as well, and she happens to enjoy getting holes poked in her ears. 😉 #introvert #badass #icontainmultitudes

“It‘s like that. Everyone‘s running around comparing wounds, like bodybuilders showing off their muscles. And what‘s really unbelievable is that they really believe they can heal the wounds like that, just by putting them on display.”
