I really appreciated this book for raising awareness on a contemporary social and political phenomenon I knew almost nothing about. Apart from depicting how deep the tragedy has been for all those involved with the movement in a way or another, directly or indirectly, the novel eventually reminds us that love and foregiveness never fail to make healing possible. I'm going to also watch the TV series

I feel I need to approach this book with a glass of wine... or several...

Still trying to incorporate more books in Spanish this year and just started this as a buddy read with some friends. Loving it so far!

Harrowing, sad and beautifully written. The story shows the true cost of terror as a political tool, both on the victims and on the perpetrators. Awesome portrait of one of the most beautiful and culturally rich parts of Spain. The mothers in the story are so real they made me think of my own even though I am Galician rather than Basque.

I had just a general idea of ETA and the terror attacks in Spain. This book paints a very human picture of the families affected by the conflict.

I had a minor procedure yesterday. It hurts like hell but at least I get to stay in bed and read
