Jonathan Dark Or the Evidence of Ghosts
Jonathan Dark Or the Evidence of Ghosts | A. K. Benedict
2 posts | 2 read
Maria King knows a secret London. Born blind, she knows the city by sound and touch and smell. But surgery has restored her sight - only for her to find she doesn't want it. Jonathan Dark sees the shadowy side of the city. A DI with the Metropolitan Police, he is haunted by his failure to save a woman from the hands of a stalker. Now it seems the killer has set his sights on Maria, and is leaving her messages in the most gruesome of ways. Tracing the source of these messages leads Maria and Jonathan to a London they never knew. Finding the truth will mean seeing a side to the city where life and death is a game played by the powerful, where everyone is lost but nothing is missing, and where all the answers are hiding, if only they listen to the whispers on the streets. Shot through with love and loss, ghosts and grief, A K Benedict weaves a compelling mystery that will leave you looking over your shoulder and asking what lurks in the dark.

Mehso-so

Not convinced by this one. Some interesting ideas but didn't really warm to any of the characters. Why main character chose not to see wasn't really explored, nor why she had decided to have an operation to give her sight. Also felt that it was designed to be the start of a series (although I am not sure it is) so this book had the air of an introduction than something fully formed. Finished it but not with any real enthusiasm.

Pickpick

Im a bit of a sceptic about supernatural crime fiction but sometimes it's good to read something entertaining and ive decided to just sometimes park my rational brain before i open the book, which i did and consequently enjoyed this book of ghosts, police, a stalker, a blind victim, a sinister organisation, and hunt for a killer - daft but enjoyable and I will read more if they arrive 👻
