107/100 In a dark future, the technology exists to upload your consciousness upon death to a virtual paradise called Upterlife. While the dead enjoy their simulated adventures, the land of the living deteriorates as all resources are turned to maintaining the virtual world. At first I didn't like the main character, he was shallow, a prankster, someone who takes nothing seriously, except for his sister Izzy. He grows to be the face of the ⬇️

RamsFan1963 rebellion, but he's still a seriously flawed character, doing the rebellion for selfish reasons, to aid his sister's medical condition, and so annoyingly indecisive about the two women who are in love with him. It started a little slow, but once the reader gets a wider view of the characters' world, the story takes off at a fast pace that doesn't let up until the kind of, but not quite happy ending. 4/5⭐ #Read2025 4w

Great read! Thrilling plot, diverse characters, impressive worldbuilding. Overall, I give this book between 3.5-4 stars. It would have been a solid 4 if not for a scene in the ending, but no spoilers! I highly recommend this book to sci-fi lovers and anyone who is interested in the dark side of technology. Fans of Black Mirror, Sword Art Online, and Ready Player One may enjoy this.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
