⭐️⭐️⭐️ Brain candy for Bourdain fans: violent, funny, smutty. And there‘s food, of course. He was a brilliant essayist and I love his nonfiction, so I wasn‘t sure what to expect here. These short stories starring the tough but likable Bobby Gold weren‘t mind-blowing, but they certainly were entertaining.

Bobby Gold takes the fall for a friend and ends up in jail for 8 years. This follows his life as a bouncer and strong arm for the same friend involved in dodgy business. Hardboiled gangsters, lots of restaurant scenes and some explicit sex scenes.

I loved this and still can't get over what we lost when Anthony Bourdain took his life. An unnecessary and sad ending to a life well lived. You are missed! #Booked2019 #foodoncover #Spring #1toGo

Found this little guy hiding out on a bookshelf in the basement, which mostly has unread books on it. @timg138 picked this up for me quite a while ago, probably after I read Kitchen Confidential in my culinary school days. I opted to dig around for the #foodanddrink prompt for #Booked2019 #spring edition, rather than scroll through the library's audio catalog. 🤨

I want more. This is the 3rd fiction novel by #Bourdain and it read at a much quicker pace. I knocked this one out in 2 days. Every one of his fiction books is heavily laden with his cooking and travel knowledge. Bobby Gold has a heart of gold and is the toughest MF around. 💙☠️🔪

This has been a weird year so far. I‘ve read the entire Harry Potter series, and Anthony Bourdain‘s books have moved up on my TBR list. I‘ve also read Cosmic Banditos which has been on my TBR list for a long time. It‘s the year of things I‘ve been meaning to read. Harry Potter due to the popularity, the others due to my fondness of the authors.
