Goggles is a brilliant and beautiful RF Caldecott winner book that involves two boys finding a pair of riding goggles and suddenly find themselves in a situation that do not want to be in. This is a story about friendship and over-coming obstacles.
A great RA book.

Goggles! is a Caldecott Award winning RF picture book. It follows a young boy named Peter who finds an old pair of motorcycle goggles. He and his friend Archie think that the goggles are a prized possession. However, they run into a gang that wants to take the goggles from them. This book focuses on dealing with bullies, which many students may relate to and appreciate the message. It is a great book for a classroom RA.

MNelson98 ESOL strategies 14 and 17 can be used to help students comprehend spoken words and the emotions of the story. UDL 2.1 can be used to define unknown vocabulary. This website contains a lesson plan based on the book: http://www.easyliteracy.com/goggles.html #lae3414sp19 6y

Caldecott honor book. This book is great for young kids. It‘s simple and sweet and fun to look at. I know when I read it to a preschooler he liked it and it was available in the classroom so I assume other kids quite like it too.

Goggles! by Ezra Jack Keats, 1969. Just like all of Ezra Jack Keats books, the story is simple and fun and the illustrations are high level and intriguing. Much of it is in his classic color blocked style but this particular story has a lot of texture. Simple rusted and worn texture combined with the use of newspaper and magazine graffiti add a lot of visual stimulation to the story and make it a wonderful read.

UDL Strategy 9.3: develop self-assessment and reflection. http://www.ezra-jack-keats.org/lesson-plan/bullies-and-friends/ this website has great lesson plans for this book! Discussing bullying and problem solving techniques. I think this would be a good book for DR. Students can get in groups and perform it in front of their peers! 7y
laurie_jayy Hey hey! I love anything and everything by Ezra Jack Keats. The moral of this story is so important because many students are bullied and this can be used as a gateway into a lesson on bullying. Great choice! 7y
