A beautifully Illustrated RF book that has won the Newbery and Caldecott Awards. It is not only beautifully drawn but the story it's also beautiful. You can use this as an ra book, which I would use it for. Reading and exploring this book can help students better understand the lives of people around them.

A NF book that has large and beautiful images of animals in drawing and photography. A RA book, or a IR book that students can flip through at their leisure or use to gain information with about animals and their habitats. Any random page in the this book is a wealth of knowledge and loaded with easy to read facts and diagrams.

A beautiful tale of a boy growing up and dealing with life‘s problems in the best way he can. This text would be an amazing option for LC. #lae3414sp19

PB Award winner, Elya and Martinez-Neal retell a classic TL story in P form. Almost everyone knows the story of the Princess and the Pea and Elya brings the story a bilingual twist. Throughout the book there is Spanish words thrown in, like: acepto (i do), de moda (in style), madra (mother), roca (rock) and guisanta (pea). With beautiful illustrations and a rhyming poem style book, this will entice and be loved by all students!

Goggles is a brilliant and beautiful RF Caldecott winner book that involves two boys finding a pair of riding goggles and suddenly find themselves in a situation that do not want to be in. This is a story about friendship and over-coming obstacles.
A great RA book.

WoodsKatie Such a classic, both as a book and movie. This used to be a choice book in classes when it was t its prime but I still think it‘s modern enough for kids in this generation. Would totally use this in my classroom! Great post! 5y

The Girl Who Drank the Moon | Kelly Barnhill

After hearing a few classmates talk about how much they liked this book, I just had to pick it up!
I downloaded the Kindle version and read through the entire book in two days! Luna‘s story starts long before she is born and ends far after she leaves the protectorate. Another F book, that won the Newbery award, that is high fantasy has a dragon! You‘re not going to want to put it down!

A super colorful and fun way to write a B book for kids! The images are color and the information about Alice Roosevelt is not only interesting but informative! After reading this book to my daughter, she read it again on her own and doesn't want to return it to the library. This translated text, originally by E Perrault, is a Caldecott Award Winner and a cherished TL book in my house hold. Since being translated this story has been retold in many forms. The unique illustrations are beautifully done and Brown‘s retelling in just breathtaking. I just loved this version of the book. #LAE3414sp19

Dark Day in the Deep Sea | Mary Pope Osborne

Having never read a MTH Book I was super excited to read this book. It being #39 left me wanting to read more. Jack and Annie are off to another wild adventure to 1870‘s where they find themselves coming in contact with The HMS Challenger. This book is third in the Merlin Mission' set and is a great addition. While this F /HF book has not won any awards, the series is known by many as a fantastical journey to read.

This RF book absolutely took my breath away reading. A&D is a inspiring and winning book with many awards, some being the Pura Belpre, ALA Stonewall, LAMBDA Literary and the Printz Honor Award.. Aristotle is an 15yo with anger problems and a brother in jail, when he meets Dante over summer break at a swimming pool, an unlikely and shaky friendship blooms. #LAE3414SP19

JessicaRosell This book is perfect for highschool students as it touches on themes such as sexuality, loneliness, discrimination, family dynamics, and Mexican American heritage. I absolutely loved this book and will be adding it to my purchase list!

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane | Kate DiCamillo, Bagram Ibatoulline

This 2006 F, Mulitple Award winner, (B. Globe-Horn Book Award for Fiction, and Christopher Award) is a true book worth a spot on every elementary bookshelf. Edward Tulane, beautiful but with a heart colder than his china, was a rabbit who was owned and love by Abilene. He thinks highly of himself and feels nothing, that is, until one day he is lost to the unknown.
Follow Edward on his journey: will he find a way to mend his broken china heart?
