DrSpalding This is an excellent book to read aloud the first week of school in a kindergarten or first grade classroom. Be sure to proof your work. I am not sure what the last sentence means. 4y

This realistic fiction is about a little raccoon on his first day at school and missing his mom. Everytime Chester misses his mom he puts his hand on his cheek where his mother kissed it so that way he knows she‘s with him. This is a great book to help students facing the first days of kindergarten, first grade or any other separations. #UCFWaltersLit

lburgos9 @lizzie0922 Thank you for posting this book. I feel like there‘s not enough books on this issue. Some kids go through really bad separation anxiety and books like this can help comfort them a bit. I also like the link to the lesson plan you put. The lesson plan with drawing your hand on the board is simple but effective. #UCFWalterslit (edited) 7y
