Justice League of America Vol. 2: Curse of the Kingbutcher
Justice League of America Vol. 2: Curse of the Kingbutcher | Steve Orlando
2 posts | 2 read
DC characters Vixen, Lobo, the Ray, the Atom, Black Canary and Killer Frost are no ones idea of Earths greatest heroes...and yet theyve all been brought together by Batman to form a new incarnation of the Justice League and all that it stands for. This new League was founded on principles of hope, on the idea that everyone deserves a second chance...and yet those same ideals now threaten to tear the team apart. When the team rescues Makson, a strange man from a hidden land of monsters, it seems like hes ready for that exact kind of second chance. But Batman has his doubts. If hes wrong about Makson, does he really believe in the optimistic vision that the team was founded on? And if hes right, does anyone ever deserve the Justice Leagues trust again? Writer Steve Orlando (MIDNIGHTER AND APOLLO) and artists including Felipe Watanabe (CYBORG) and Andy MacDonald (DETECTIVE COMICS), Jamal Campbell (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) and Neil Edwards (JUSTICE LEAGUE) test the limits of the strangest team to ever call themselves the Justice League of America! Collects issues #7-11.

Pickpick

This volume sees Batman‘s league of weirdos battling some equally odd villains including a guy raised by velociraptors & the King Butcher who... well, he finds people who have had wishes granted & he... he just takes away their wishes really, which is not all that evil I guess. But he has a big ax, so he must be a bad guy, right?

The selling point here is this book is full of thoughtful well-written superhero conversation. Which I love.

Today‘s purchases from the comic book store.

In my life experience, comic book stores are like Slayers. When one dies another will rise to take its place. Unfortunately after the demise of the local “Yesterdays (Stuff Your Mom Threw Out)” no shops have popped up nearby so it‘s an hour drive to Ssssalefish Comics every couple months.

In other news, that Justice League of America collection is titled Curse of the King Butcher. How cool is that?
