Writers like Austin Chant and Alison Evans are making me realize that there *are* stories I enjoy within genres I've previously assumed I didn't like. I love Chant's writing style, his worldbuilding, the way his characters interact. Everything is so normal and chill and yet, there's a witch and a clockwork heart and spells going on in this book! But I felt grounded reading this, so I actually enjoyed the fantasy aspects. Plus, it's not medieval!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — How a novella has complete world building and a slow-burn romance in 98 pages, I don't know, but it really does. The magic of the world is cool. Roy and Cecily were also fantastic leads. This plot works so beautifully as there's so much richness to the metaphors of being at conflict with your own physical body. Dark in some places, but definitely a great read!

Caroline‘s Heart was such a wonderful read! A romantic cowboy, magic, and witches- I‘m not sure theres more to want in a fluffy queer romance novel ♥️. The story has a very compelling grieving character, and I found her journey to really give depth to the narrative and the romance. I believe the book is only in digital format right now, which was perfect for reading on the light rail. Check it out if you‘re looking for a fast-moving love story!
