'Dramatic' The Sunday Times Crime Club _______ It's time for a reunion Lindsey hasn't spoken to Rachael in twenty years, not since her brother's 18th birthday party at their parents' remote country house. A night that shattered so many friendships - and left Rachel's father dead. Now Thornbury Hall is up for sale, and the old gang are back there, together again. Rather underwhelmed by this one. It took a long time to get going, even if it did get better towards the end. Okay but certainly not great.

Lizpixie Hey lovely, will there be a readathon on this week? I need some motivation! 1y
Andrew65 @Lizpixie Yes, hope you are well and over the Covid and Flu. The 9 day choose your own goal readathon starts this Saturday, a bit later than normal as wasn‘t able to do it this week. 1y

Lizpixie Awesome! I‘m holding on here, got a double dose of long Covid symptoms from my 2nd go around, now trying desperately to stay away from this new wave of variants that‘s just hit australia🫣How‘s things on your end? Hope you & the missus are dodging Covid bullets over there too!🙅🏻 1y
Andrew65 @Lizpixie We both had it once, in September 2021 (likely Delta), knocked us both out for weeks, most probably at least a couple of months overall. This is what led to me to make the decision at 56 to leave the job as head teacher as couldn‘t keep exposing both of us to it. Diagnosed with Crohn‘s disease six months after it. coincidence or Long Covid symptom, who knows. Now on medication that makes me Immunocompromised and therefore increases risk. 1y
Andrew65 Left last Easter. We mask everywhere but try to avoid going in buildings, usually the only ones masking 🙄 and both had a lot of hospital appointments to negotiate. Do home delivery and try to avoid others wherever we can. Definitely changed the way we lead our lives but good we are on the same page with it. I‘m possibly more OCD over it though.
Hope your Long Covid symptoms aren‘t too severe and soon pass. Sending positive thoughts.

Lizpixie Oh wonderful. It‘s the gift that keeps on giving isn‘t it? My 30yr old daughter has had it 3 times so far & ended up having a minor heart attack & a brain bleed from the damage the virus caused to her body. And she was perfectly healthy beforehand! 1y
Lizpixie I know what you mean, I‘m terrified of leaving the house at all. And the main reasons I have to are doctors & hospital appointment‘s which is the last place I want to be. The hubby doesn‘t quite get just how anxious I am about getting it again, but I have this awful sense that 3rd time around will be the end. Morbid but prob true!🙇🏻‍♀️ 1y
Andrew65 Whichever way best avoided wherever we can! We are now using FFP3 masks from 3M (Aura) which seem about the tightest seal and give us more confidence they are keeping things out, but still don‘t hardly have any contact. Stay safe! 1y

I just didn't quite get it 🤔
It was just a bit of a wash out to be honest really not my type of book. Was waiting for something to happen all the way through and it was just a let down at the end👎🏻

Surviving the weekend might depend on whether you can keep a secret!

Mrsjarv All finished and it didn‘t have me on the edge of my seat. Well written but not overly exciting... half way through just as I was getting bored something happened to keep me reading but even the ending wasn‘t the Big Bang I was hopi g for! 6y

I finished this because I was invested enough that I wanted to know the ending but it was only a so-so read. None of the characters were particularly nice and I‘d guessed what happened with the historic death. I also had an uneasy feeling as to what was at the root of it all and was right. None of the male characters came across very well, and it all just felt a bit sordid. Rating. 2.5 stars.
