Skip-Beat!, Vol. 40
Skip-Beat!, Vol. 40 | Yoshiki Nakamura
4 posts | 4 read
When Kyoko's heart is broken, she decides that revenge is a dish best served in the spotlight! Kyoko Mogami followed her true love Sho to Tokyo to support him while he made it big as an idol. But he's casting her out now that he's famous! Kyoko won't suffer in silence--she's going to get her sweet revenge by beating Sho in show biz! Kyoko desperately wants to be cast in a new samurai drama so that she can work opposite her best friend in the entire world, Kanae "Moko" Kotonami. But there are plenty of hurdles between her and her dream role, including another actress who might be willing to do anything to take out the competition!

Skip Beat! Volume 40

A nice shift back to Moko x Kyoko - the friendship between these two is always fun to read about 😆 I‘m also curious about the new samurai period piece that Kyoko is auditioning for and how she‘s gonna obtain the role given what happened by the end of this volume 🤔

Katerina Oooh... I still have to wait three weeks for volume 40. I love the cover. I have a cosplay with the Love Me uniform 😁 6y

I cringed a bit when I tallied up my March expenditure. Between a new volume of SKIP BEAT! (the only title I auto-buy without waiting for a sale), my buy-a-random-book project, and those amazing comiXology sales, March was an expensive (to me) month.

On the plus side, I read EVERY LAST ONE of the 2 novels and 13 trades I bought, so La TBR only suffered insofar as I didn't read as much off of it as I'd have liked.

RachLovesTV Skip Beat!! ❤️ I used to read a ton of manga, and now it's just down to that one! In an effort to save 💵, I stopped buying them after #30 and either check the new ones out from the library or read them at the bookstore. I once totaled up how much I'd spent on my manga collection and about passed out. 😳 6y
xicanti @RachLovesTV I don't think I could ever shell out for brand new print manga on the regular since each volume is about $15 here, but I'll pay $6-7 for digital SKIP BEAT! with zero regrets. I can't bear to wait for my slow-ass library to purchase & process each new volume. (edited) 6y
RachLovesTV Ooo, digital! I hadn't even thought of that! My other stop-buying reason is I have no more room on my bookshelves, and they are just sitting in boxes in my closet and stacks by my dresser. My library is fairly quick at processing, for the most part. 6y

xicanti @RachLovesTV mine's gotten better over the last few years, but they still tend to drag their feet on anything they're gonna shelve in the YA and/or comics sections. It's not a huge deal for most stuff, but I deeply resent it where SKIP BEAT! is concerned and I quit even checking the catalogue for SAGA as of volume three. 6y
RachLovesTV Does your library do Hoopla? Apparently if they do, and they include the graphic novel collection, you can download stuff like Saga right away with no waiting. My own library system doesn't include it, but Seattle does and I can use theirs (provided I could find my Seattle card). I'd have to check about Skipbeat. 6y
xicanti @RachLovesTV my library's never subscribed to Hoopla's comics catalogue. :( They ditched the audiobooks side in January, too, which was a big blow. I really don't mind paying for SAGA and SKIP BEAT!, though, because I read them over and over again. 6y
RachLovesTV Bummer! But yeah, that's definitely true! 6y

SKIP BEAT! and sushi for lunch.

ComiXology flat out refuses to acknowledge I've bought this book, so I'm reading it through Kindle instead. I hope it's a problem with the book's metadata and not some new policy where you can't sync Kindle-purchased comics with comiXology. I like to have all the volumes in a series in one place for easier binge-reading. #comics #manga

I've got friends who're preorder junkies, but I'd rather wait for deals or the library--except when it comes to SKIP BEAT!. I need more Kyoko and Ren AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, thank you. Volume 40 went live on Kindle earlier today, so now I've just gotta endure the forty-seven days until it's published. #comics #manga
