For the Roses
For the Roses | Julie Garwood
6 posts | 17 read | 2 to read
The Clayborne brothers were a rough gang of street urchins -- until they found an abandoned baby girl in a New York City alley, named her Mary Rose, and headed to Blue Belle, Montana, to raise her to be a lady. They became a family -- held together by loyalty and love if not blood -- when suddenly a stranger threatened to tear them apart...Lord Harrison Stanford MacDonald brandished a six-shooter and a swagger, but he soon proved to be a gentleman to the core. The brothers taught him frontier survival, while Mary Rose touched his heart with a deep and desperate passion. But soon, a shattering secret would challenge everything Mary Rose believed about herself, her life, and her newfound love.

For the Roses is still one of my favorite books of all time. Hence the title to this blurb. #mbcreadathon #mbcgiveaway11

Pickpick

This book was so good. I love the premise behind it with the four boys who bonded as brothers and found and raised an abandoned baby they made their sister, this being her story. I love Julie Garwood, especially her historicals!

During our epic library book haul with @megt I found this on (the extremely well organized) table of books. I think I went "Aw. That was the first romance author I used to steal from my mom to read the naughty bits."

Anyone else do that?

I'm pretty sure she knew though&didnt mind; I mean the woman read parts of the "Outlander" series to me when I was sick haha.

TrishB My Mum made me read those bits of Outlander to her when she was sick in hospital!! She thought it was funny!! 7y
Megaled @TrishB Haha she didn't! She sounds light a delight based on this 1 fact alone! How old were you? This something I can totally see my mother doing one day: "Read me the part when Claire has to deflower Jamie on their wedding night. Nice and clear now!" I mean I did come home one afternoon to find her watching the wedding night scene from the TV show so... 7y
TrishB I was early 40s but may as well have been 14 I was so embarrassed!! 7y
Megaled @TrishB I bet! It's one thing to read sexy scenes, another completely to read them aloud. To your mother. 😂 7y
