NATIONAL BESTSELLER We all know the system isnt working. Our governments are corrupt and the opposing parties pointlessly similar. Our culture is filled with vacuity and pap, and we are told theres nothing we can do: Its just the way things are. In this book, Russell Brand hilariously lacerates the straw men and paper tigers of our conformist times and presents, with the help of experts as diverse as Thomas Piketty and George Orwell, a vision for a fairer, sexier society thats fun and inclusive. You have been lied to, told theres no alternative, no choice, and that you dont deserve any better. Brand destroys this illusory facade as amusingly and deftly as he annihilates Morning Joe anchors, Fox News fascists, and BBC stalwarts. This book makes revolution not only possible but inevitable and fun.

#MarchIntoThe70s @Cinfhen @Lizpixie

I just can't help but think of Russell and his philosophy when I hear this song #Won'tGetFooledAgain which on a slightly unrelated note I absolutely love The Who

Cinfhen Like your thought process here!!! 6y
Lizpixie I love Russel Brand too❤️ 6y

So here's a surprise. This book is actually incredibly deep, incredibly funny, and at times almost poetic and quite beautiful. It definitely is not what I was expecting from him, since I only know of him through his acting.

Felt like listening to the ramblings of a mad man for some reason. Just wasn't my cup of tea.

There can be no doubt that Brand is a word smith. The sentences he weaves are sometimes almost poetry. This is a very nice and easy look at the current problems with consumerism and our attitude towards issues in our society. It doesn't have tonnes of facts even though I imagine a lot of research did go into it. I didn't necessarily learn anything I didn't already know but there were some new ideas. Enjoyable. #consumerism #hope #revolution

I have a soft spot for Russell Brand. I ordered this book on audible last year but when trying to listen to it I just couldn't get into it. I've picked it back up again today and am thoroughly enjoying it. Sometimes it's just about reading (or listening to something) at the right time. Sometimes books come to us when we are ready for them.

I found it interesting. Brand uses some of his personal experiences coupled with research + conversations with... Can we call them experts? To tackle current event issues and the need for a revolution to make any real and lasting impact. He can be very poetic at times. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2.

Simona @GriffinAndHerBooks This book was for me simply - bad. 9y

A change of pace after the last book.

KateTheBookworm I might be the only one - but I cannot stand Russell Brand. 9y
AlexandraGriffin @KateTheBookworm haha what about him don't you like? I have seen some of his videos on social issues that I felt were very well presented and argued, so I was interested in what he'd say in his book. 9y
KateTheBookworm Meh. I'd like to say it's not personal, but it's totally personal haha. I find him pedantic and irritating. It's like he's playing a character called Captain Arrogant, Mighty Ruler of the Grandiose. 9y
AlexandraGriffin @KateTheBookworm I can totally see where you get that feeling. Haha. I find him interesting, and his points interesting as well. 9y
KateTheBookworm I'm curious to hear what you think of the book! 9y
