So G‘s new thing here is to ride her bike around the block. I noticed last night it was taking her longer than usual to complete her circuit. I was getting worried, when I finally saw her trudging down the street, walking her bike with a stack of books under her arm. She wanted to surprise me by presenting me with a stack of books she picked out for me from the LFL down the street. ❤️

Michael Crichton is one of my favourite writes, therefore I was happy to come along his first novel. It's no surprise he published it using a pseudonym. Even nowadays you don't just write a book about abortion without second thoughts. It's amazing how Crichton doesn't judge, but still gives a lot of information and different opinions through his characters.

When I first came along #BookSpin I though one had to read all 20 books in one month 😅 Happily, I happen to come across the actual rules and I'd be glad to join you all. Hope it's not to late!

@TheAromaofBooks

TheAromaofBooks Oh my, I am definitely not up to the 20-book challenge!! 😂 Each month is its own thing (although I am tracking reviews through the year, and each review is an entry for an end-of-the-year giveaway!), and the drawing is always on the 2nd of the month - so, in short, you are in plenty of time and I'm glad to have you along!! 5y
Jari-chan @TheAromaofBooks I'm happy to hear that I still can join your round. Can't wait for the drawing! 😄 5y

I haven‘t read a Michael Crichton book and a very long time. This was a particularly good one that could be classified as a legal and medical thriller. It might be a little outdated but I don‘t think that the main issues or conflicts were. I enjoyed it.

This was an interesting one. The subject was abortion but it was still a typical Crichton thriller. I don‘t really agree with the main character‘s opinion on the subject, but it didn‘t take away from my enjoyment of the book.

Crighton‘s early medical thriller about abortion, published before Roe v Wade, is still current in that it asks that the reader consider medical law versus medical ethics. Crighton‘s intimate knowledge of the medical field, especially pathology, adds rich layers of detail. Though not as well written as his later works, if you enjoy thrillers or suspense you‘ll enjoy this.

@Syndelle777 such a generous giveaway with your #TS25KGiveaway and congrats on 25K! I hope to one day be able to get there myself, but I'm just starting out on Litsy recently. My favorite of the list is Creighton and Koontz. I've always been a big fan of thrillers and horror since my mom let me read Dreamcatcher by Stephen King as a kid.

Michael Crichton's first novel (originally published in 1968 as Jeffrey Hudson) has then-illegal abortion at the center of its plot. It sounds like a good pairing with a nonfiction account of the Roe v. Wade case. And I couldn't resist letting my witch flag fly regarding the potential we'll be back in 1968 again about so many things!

heatherspoetlife I read this one a long time ago. It was the first book that really humanized the women who get abortions for me. 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @StoredFeminism I can imagine. I think it'll be interesting to read them together 8y
prowlix I remember liking this when I read it as a teenager. I found it when I was burning through Crichton backlist 8y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @prowlix Until the other day, I thought I'd read Crichton's whole backlist! Can't wait for this one, even though first novels are sometimes only so-so. 8y
