I made this bookshelf insert out of LEGO to go in our Stephen King collection 🤡 #bookshelfinsert #booknook #lego
A fun little book about the joy of LEGO building! It has lots of example of little ways you can create things out of LEGO to relax, play, connect with others and bring out your inner child ❤️
Looking forward to learning more about my favorite hobby! #lego
I want to like this book, but I am having a hard time getting past the odd LEGO lingo! As a serious LEGO hobbyist, I‘ve never heard anyone call the sets “kits” or the instructions “blueprints.” 😂
Love this novel in verse about a middle schooler learning to heal after growing up with an abusive father. 💔Deals with a lot of difficult issues in an age-appropriate way...heartbreaking but hopeful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wanted to read this before watching the Netflix series...I enjoyed it, even the WTF ending. Although I didn‘t know specifically what was coming, I was ready for some kind of craziness and I was able to enjoy it. Overall an engaging read that distracted me from life. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘ve seen a lot of so-so ratings for this book, and I understand why. Three siblings are going through some significant emotional struggles at home and school. Throughout the whole book my heart goes out to them, and I just want things to turn around for each of them. Readers get a glimmer of hope toward the end, but it‘s not quite enough. The ending needs to resolve more of the family‘s issues and be a bit more encouraging. Powerful story though.
Besides reading, one of my favorite hobbies is building my own creations with LEGO bricks. I made this mosaic/ sculpture piece for an art contest, and I‘m super proud to have it selected as a winner. Right now, it‘s en route to Denmark to go on display at LEGO headquarters! ❤️😱🤗😍😮😅 #lego #legoart #legomoc #legobuilding #art #artoflego
Reading Dusti Bowling‘s new novel in verse on this super cold, rainy day. I am loving this story of a girl and her Dad separated and struggling for survival in the desert. Emotional and engaging...and I am especially interested to read the author‘s note at the end where she reveals the inspiration for the story. 💔 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Littens. This books is So. Powerful. A heartbreaking and empowering and hopeful story of two young sisters who are sexual abuse survivors. The author states that it happened to her, and her writing is so authentic. I love that the characters process what happened to them in their therapy sessions, and they give readers practical language to use regarding consent. So many stars for this book. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was so on track for my reading goals this year...and then I fell in a slump.😞 I had a hard time getting motivated to read and when I did pick up a book I just couldn‘t focus on it. Definitely feeling stress from the events of this year (Covid, Portland riots, Oregon wildfires & evacuations, recent major surgery). Giving it another go with this book by Stacey Lee, whose books I have enjoyed before. Would love to get back to reading again!
Christina! They came! 😂 I actually forgot about them so this was a nice surprise today. Seems they just needed more postage...it is quite a haul. 😉Thank you so much for these wonderful bookmarks and for organizing the swap! #summerbookmarkswap
Deb, these are SO amazing! I am super impressed with your crafting skill, and I just love the bookmarks you made especially for me. ❤️ And I think it‘s so funny that I picked out the same bookmark for you as you did for me (different graphic, but same designer)! 😂 These are all wonderful, thank you so much for swapping with me! —Elia 🤗 #summerbookmarkswap
Oh wow, Jane, these are brilliant! What a wonderful collection to add to my bookmark stash...I just love all of them! Especially the Back to the Future with a piece of actual film 😍 and the designs by British Book Art. Thank you thank you thank you! 🤗 📚#summerbookmarkswap
Christina, I love the bookmarks! Thank you for organizing this and for including so many! I just love the sea turtle and the adorable desserts, but I will definitely be using them all! 💕 —Elia #summerbookmarkswap

What if there were no mistakes? OK, not possible. But what if we could view our mistakes in a new light? #firstlinefridays
Working on a project that doubles for the #summerfun challenge and the summerbookmarkswap ! Bookmarks with the Cricut. #getcrafty
Heading out to @cwarnier @Kdgordon88 @JaneyWaneyB @allureofbeauty @DebinHawaii for the #summerbookmarkswap! 😍
Love, love, love this book! Told through the lens of a high school boy who travels to Iran to visit relatives, this is a story of self-discovery, the importance of friendship, and what it means to be family. ❤️ The author does a fantastic job of helping readers understand depression as well as Iranian culture. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #oregonbattleofthebooks
My daughter and I are in a LEGO camp this week with Boone from the LEGO Masters TV show...today‘s challenge was to create a build that represents who you are. So of course we chose a book! Seemed pretty do-able but it turned out to be harder than we thought 😂 Got a lot of learning to do about creating LEGO builds that don‘t come with instructions, haha!
Matching my outfit to my book like 👀

I could seriously eat a burger for every meal, every day. Grass fed, lettuce wrapped, topped with homemade mayonnaise, pastured bacon, and a fried duck egg. 🍔
Oddly, I don‘t love either. Fireworks are too loud and holding a sparkler scares me 🙊😂🤦🏼♀️
Homemade ice cream 🍨

I love when authors make a point to include gender-neutral bathrooms in their stories!
A cute, adventurous animal story for middle grade...fans of Warriors and Endling series will enjoy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Enjoying this adventure story with an adorable protagonist! I keep pausing to Google things like fairy penguins, swamp water rat, and wombat droppings. 😂 I‘m learning all kinds of things about Australian wildlife! Also, how cute is this cover? 😍

This took me a lot longer to read than it should have...I just couldn‘t get into it. A story of a middle school boy growing up in poverty on an Indian reservation in the 1970s. I was excited to read this at first, but I think it had too many unnecessary conversations, minor plot lines, etc. and could have used some more editing. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #oregonbattleofthebooks
An enjoyable read on the patio on this HOT afternoon...a super cute story! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No space left to rest my book. #toomanyanimals #guineapigsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy
Finished this while my son is in surgery and I have to wait in the car! 😭 It is a great story about a middle school boy in need of a cornea transplant. Also about love and friendship and being brave and so much more. ❤️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Now just nervously waiting for my own boy to be awake again. 😬 #oregonbattleofthebooks

Book with ice cream on the cover! My entry for the #summerfun bingo card is to make homemade Salt & Straw ice cream.....wayyyyy to good! 😋

This middle grade story, though fictional, was inspired by Malala Yousafzai and other girls who take a stand against inequality. Simple enough for young readers, it brings awareness to the oppression of girls and women in Pakistan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #oregonbattleofthebooks
My husband got this picture of me reading on the beach...Oregon beaches are cold! 😂 My #beachselfie for the #summerfun challenge. #summerfunbucketlist @4thhouseontheleft @StayCurious

Told from the perspective of a 12-year-old black boy who was shot and killed by a white police officer, this book is so relevant and well-written for middle school readers. #blacklivesmatter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #oregonbattleofthebooks

1. My favorite children‘s author is Kate DiCamillo
2. Summer reading is moving right along...meeting my goals!
3. My most recent book purchase is The Ask and the Answer...book #2 in Patrick Ness‘s Chaos Walking trilogy.
Thanks for the tag, @RamsFan1963
This book of graphic short stories is weird and funny and clever. The scenes in each panel are sculpted out of clay instead of drawn with ink. Pretty creative! OK for kids, although young kids would not understand the humor or enjoy the stories as much as older kids or teens. Even then...It‘s a bit “out there” 😆
A story about children who were taken from their parents and sold to wealthy families....hard to read at times, but powerful and heart-wrenching! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A fantastic start to this trilogy! Manchee might just be my favorite character ever. ❤️🐶

A beautiful picture book that tells the story of Aesop‘s upbringing as a slave and how the stories he made up earned him his freedom. Wonderful illustrations, and Includes several of his more famous fables. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love how the author shows readers what it‘s like for Todd to live with the Noise—hearing the thoughts and feelings of everyone every minute of every day and night. Yikes.
