A standalone contemporary romance in the MORGAN BROTHERS SERIES from USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Rowe. The story of firefighter Colby Morgan that proves heroes come in many forms . . . The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn't speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together. And I don't mean any of that figuratively. I'm not talking about a guy being floored by the sight of a gorgeous woman-although, of course, Lydia is gorgeous beyond words. No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker-my physical therapist-I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit. When I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker, she was a ray of light in the dark. Hope for the hopeless. A salve for my singed and battered soul. She said she'd been assigned to fix me. That she was there to bring me back to life. She said helping me was her calling. And then she touched me. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. She healed me. And I fell in love. But what I didn't know . . . what I couldn't possibly know . . . was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.

This book was good. I enjoyed the two MCs and the secondary characters were hilarious. The family dynamics she showed were awesome.

Lydia is a widow with three kids. Her husband was a police officer and was killed in the line of duty. 3 years later she meets Colby. He‘s a firefighter that was seriously injured trying to save a child and she is his physical therapist. There‘s some almost insta love, but they tone it down because professionalism.

AileenRR I like the premise, but you gave it a so-so. Is it worth the time? 5y
Lauren_reading @AileenRR I think it‘s worth the time. I‘ve read a few amazing books before this one that I think I was doing a lot of comparing. I‘m definitely going to read more by her. 5y

I liked this book but I felt it was too rushed with the couple falling for each other and too rushed with her kids loving him and calling him Dad. Too rushed and definitely felt more fantasy than reality. I liked the fact that the woman was mixed race (Lydia) and Colby was white, that is different and I enjoyed that. If the story wasn't so rushed than i would have enjoyed the book more

Pickpick

What a great romance! I loved all the characters. The relationship the siblings have made me laugh out loud. I loved all the nicknames they had for each other.
The chemistry between Colby and Lydia was steamy. Their relationship wasn‘t just based on sex but there connection too and it was such a sweet story. Colby‘s interactions with Lydia‘s children just made my heart melt.

First time reading this author. Can‘t wait to read more.
