Kind of a sequel to, but also a deepening of Everything Happens…
Kind of a sequel to, but also a deepening of Everything Happens…
Of course it‘s not as good as the first book, but I liked it anyway. The story was in turns slow and overly dramatic, but I liked seeing Ari‘s growth and the development of his relationships. And I liked being reminded of how much I like reading about good, smart kids.
This story had me reflecting on how I, and my life, have changed in the last 10 years.
During this re-read, I realized that Camilla is as big a part of this story as Eliza is in Hamilton. They‘re the ones who made (a large part of) the story happen. Camila Morrone looks like she‘s just right for the part of Camila Dunne. So excited for the show! 💖
I thought her story was interesting enough (difficulties finding the right job and partner, struggles with fertility), and I enjoyed reading on the whole, but there was something about the style (or voice?) that I didn‘t love 🤔
Meh. Some interesting background trivia about the movies and the actors. I ended up rewatching When Harry Met Sally earlier this week, and am planning to rewatch You‘ve Got Mail tonight 💖
I admire the characters for their wit. I can‘t think fast enough to banter in real life they way they do in books.
I read it for the forward by Mindy, which was fine. I ended up really enjoying the parts about his undergrad years at Berkeley. Also, I thought there‘d be more Hollywood gossipy bits, so that was a let down.
I love food memoirs and I liked this one. Maybe a teensy but slow in the middle, but finished strongly.
Took a minute to get into it because there are so many unlikable characters. It ended up being pretty satisfying.
LOVED this ♥️♥️♥️ Didn‘t think the author could top Daisy Jones, but then I read Malibu Rising and then this one. I think I have a new favorite author for sheer entertainment!
The more I read Sam Irby, the more I like her 😊
Loved this a lot, even though there were a few side characters that I couldn‘t keep track of in the audio form, and I wanted an epilogue (like I do for everything). Great book for ending 2021 and beginning 2022 💖
Re-listened and fell in love with these families all over again.
Something thoughtful to listen to on a cold December day. I was in the mood for something slightly substantial and this was perfect.
While I was initially frustrated with the characters (just tell her! speak up!) I grew to love them. Worth the listen.
Much better read with the eyes than with the ears. In turns funny, cringey, gross, and full of heart.
A calm, quiet, slightly disturbing listen through the eyes of a female AI. Glad I read it, but probably won‘t re-read. It did make me interested in looking into the author‘s other books.
So I fell in love with Vlad in this book, but never quite warmed up to Elena 100%, but I like her a lot. Not my favorite in the series because I hate big misunderstandings. Also, the neighbor Claud was too much for me. Still, yay for Vlad! Glad he figured out his gluten intolerance 👍🏽
I love this because of the way it‘s making me think about my approach to living. It‘s inspirational. I don‘t love the ending; I wanted a long, drawn out epilogue where the author tells how every character we‘ve met is doing. But would still recommend.
Didn‘t think I was going to like this one since I usually like YA books featuring kind, smart, obedient kids and this heroine is NOT that. But she changes, and the secondary characters, particularly her dad, make up for her brattiness.
Not a fan of the way the lips were drawn. A portrayal of a mostly loving relationship between sisters who seem to be best friends, but the really know how to poke at each other. It was ok.
I think I would have appreciated this one more if I‘d read the original Soppy first.
Listened to the book because my teenager likes the musical based on the book. It was ok. Apparently the musical is more dramatic 🤷🏻♀️
Don‘t know if I‘d recommend it, but I liked it a lot, in large part because I love reading about how rich people live. When I came across the name of a hotel or shop or artist, I‘d Google it so I could better picture this world. It also helped to be forewarned that the story would not end happily.
Didn‘t like the relationship between the 2 main characters. Big let down because the premise was so good. The heroine was a downer. There were too many lies and secrets. The best part for me was the growth in the relationship between the heroine and her sister.
I love it when characters have loving, supportive, healthy families. Better the 2nd time I listened to it (spaced out a lot the 1st time).
This series has been consistently good so far.
As in most essay collections, I liked some more than others. Felt smart reading it and had to look up the meaning of a few words. I thought it would deal with more superficial topics like the cosmetic industry, but religion, rape, and the roles of the wife are interesting too.
Listened to this twice and I still missed bits. I need to read this with my eyes. I came in not knowing much about the author. Now I‘m a fan.
This one was ok. Fine. Pretty good. I did LOL once towards the beginning. I usually like enemies to lovers, but I guess there was too much of the enemies part and not enough shown of the transformation to friends and lovers. I mean, it was there, but just not enough for me. Would probably be better on paper vs audio.
Nice romance with a good heroine. If such technology existed and if I wasn‘t already married, I‘d definitely submit my DNA sample to find a soulmate.
Lovely sequel. Actually teared up at one point. Looking forward to book 3 💖
I don‘t think I‘ll be recommending this one to others, but I really enjoyed listening to the parts about the personal relationship between the authors. Edit: I liked it a lot more after a second listen and would definitely recommend to others.
Spaced out a bunch listening to this one, but still heard lots of interesting things.
Caught some of the Twilight marathon on TV yesterday, and now there‘s a hilarious Twilight reference in my book 😆
An easy, interesting listen.
Completed the series. I‘m gonna miss these sweet football players and their women 💖
Book 4 in the series. My favorite so far; finally got book 2 from the library and I have high hopes. I‘m really loving how these new romances don‘t rely on annoying misunderstandings. The characters are more emotionally mature and actually TALK to each other 🙌🏽
3rd in a series. I had to skip book 2 because my phone didn‘t support the format, but it seems that the series gets better as it progresses. I‘m wanting a big, burly, sweet man for myself.
