Hated the reader‘s voice (sounded robotic), and it didn‘t live up to the hype, but I like the premise so much (The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor) that I‘ll continue with the series.

It was fine. I liked it a lot at the beginning, then halfway through I started spacing out. I‘m not even 100% sure how it ended and that doesn‘t bother me π€·π»ββοΈ
I have about an hour left on this book (hard copy and audiobook going at the same time). I‘m loving it π
Some fun, behind the scenes stories, mixed with the story of their friendship. I‘m super behind on their podcast; I think I‘ll start again from the beginningπ§
Less juicy than I was anticipating. I guess I‘d already heard of most of the good bits prior to reading it. Ultimately it came off as sad; Harry loves his dad and brother and wants to be a part of something important, but doesn‘t feel supported or protected by his family from the negative media attention.
This was a comfort re-read for me. At one point I heard there was going to be a show on HBO π€·π»ββοΈ
Such a good premise: Lydiaβs fiancé dies but she‘s able to continue life with him in her dreams.
It was just ok. A pleasant listen, but not gripping.
Watched the movie first and LOVED it. Then listened to the book to get more details. I bet I wouldn‘t like Bernadette in person, but I admired her genius and her relationship with her daughter π
Was excited for this one: a bookstore/cafe/gift shop! That‘s the dream! But it wasn‘t a straight forward romance; there were 3 heroines, and it was overall disappointing. But I suspect that my expectations played a big part in that.
The hero and heroine seemed like nice people, but I never fell in love with either of them. It was all just mehβ¦
Started off listening to this one and it took a while to get into it. Once I finished I immediately had to get the paper version and start again from the beginning. Some books are just better on paper
Took me a while to get into the story the first time I listened, but I did eventually get sucked it, and then had to listen again from the beginning to catch what i missed the first time around. Good story, but I wanted more of an epilogue.
I think I would have gotten more from it if I listened to just 1 or 2 essays (sermons?) a day, rather than blasting through it in a few days as if it was a novel
Was time for a reread/relisten. I love listening to Kelly talk about her friends and family. I can‘t relate to the bond she has with her dad, but I love hearing about it anyway π
It‘s a Cinderella story and the existence of a wicked stepmother stressed me out. Also, I thought the hero was too hard on the heroine. Luckily everything worked out in the end π and I still love this family
Meh. I thought the 2 main characters were tooβ¦not dramatic, butβ¦too much with their fears/phobias. But then again, I haven‘t had their traumatic experiences.
Good, but imperfect. It felt like Daphne fell in love with Simon too quickly. But! There were 2 epilogues in this version, and I LOVE epilogues π
I‘d forgotten how great this author is at quick and funny repartee. Is that redundant? Anyway, witty characters to love, with a nicely wrapped up HEA
πππ
More dramatic than I would normally care for, but at least the ending was satisfying
Terrible. At least 80% of this was lifted straight out of her William and Harry book. Looks like this is about just William and Kate, but it‘s not.
Some interesting stories. Author seems more of a fan of the boys than an objective biographer though.
Meh. I hate it when misunderstandings play a big part in the conflict. I did enjoy hearing about different traditions and beliefs though.
100% entertaining, but since I was listening to it it seemed to end abruptly. I was expecting to hear about William and Harry meeting at the Diana statue unveiling and at Philip‘s funeral, but the books stops at the beginning and of the pandemic.
Adorable premise (there‘s a magical twist) but the story was executed poorly. I didn‘t fall in love with the characters and hated the heroine‘s family. And not in a good way. In an author-took-this-too-far-and-they‘re-toxic kind of way.
Simple and easy, perfect for a Sunday morning in bed. Would make a very cute movie!
I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would given the hype. Had to listen to it twice because I tuned out a bunch the first time around.
Despite the wackiness of the family and the protagonist‘s depression, this ended up being a simple, soothing listen. I liked it, but wouldn‘t recommend.
Cute and sweet and simple. Sometimes that‘s exactly what I need π
It was hard to keep track of who‘s who when just listening, so I had to look up a character list on line and listen twice. Loved it.
I didn‘t like the voice of the reader; seemed too old or professional for the heroine. Also, I found the heroine unpleasant, but maybe I‘d be just as unpleasant if I‘d had her struggles π€·π»ββοΈ
Meh. It was fine. I‘m very meh about the whole trilogy. Maybe they‘re better on paper than on audio π€·π»ββοΈ
Told from the points of view of several different women, some more interesting than others. Pretty good, but wouldn‘t re-read. I did love the long, drawn-out ending/epilogue ππ½
Kind of a sequel to, but also a deepening of Everything Happensβ¦
Of course it‘s not as good as the first book, but I liked it anyway. The story was in turns slow and overly dramatic, but I liked seeing Ari‘s growth and the development of his relationships. And I liked being reminded of how much I like reading about good, smart kids.
This story had me reflecting on how I, and my life, have changed in the last 10 years.
During this re-read, I realized that Camilla is as big a part of this story as Eliza is in Hamilton. They‘re the ones who made (a large part of) the story happen. Camila Morrone looks like she‘s just right for the part of Camila Dunne. So excited for the show! π
I thought her story was interesting enough (difficulties finding the right job and partner, struggles with fertility), and I enjoyed reading on the whole, but there was something about the style (or voice?) that I didn‘t love π€
Meh. Some interesting background trivia about the movies and the actors. I ended up rewatching When Harry Met Sally earlier this week, and am planning to rewatch You‘ve Got Mail tonight π
I admire the characters for their wit. I can‘t think fast enough to banter in real life they way they do in books.
I read it for the forward by Mindy, which was fine. I ended up really enjoying the parts about his undergrad years at Berkeley. Also, I thought there‘d be more Hollywood gossipy bits, so that was a let down.
I love food memoirs and I liked this one. Maybe a teensy but slow in the middle, but finished strongly.
Took a minute to get into it because there are so many unlikable characters. It ended up being pretty satisfying.
LOVED this β₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ Didn‘t think the author could top Daisy Jones, but then I read Malibu Rising and then this one. I think I have a new favorite author for sheer entertainment!
The more I read Sam Irby, the more I like her π
Loved this a lot, even though there were a few side characters that I couldn‘t keep track of in the audio form, and I wanted an epilogue (like I do for everything). Great book for ending 2021 and beginning 2022 π
Re-listened and fell in love with these families all over again.
