In the Land of Words
In the Land of Words: New and Selected Poems | Eloise Greenfield
2 posts | 2 read
The words can come from a memory, or a dream, or something I see or hear or wonder about or imagine. . . . Maybe there's a place where words live, where our minds and hearts can go and find them when we want to write or read. I like to imagine that there is such a place. I call it "The Land of Words." In this collection of twenty-one poems, National Council of Teachers of English Excellence in Poetry for Children Award winner Eloise Greenfield journeys to a place where words, creativity, and imagination abound. Featuring the poems "In the Land of Words," "Books," and "Poem," as well as favorites such as "Nathaniel's Rap" and "Way Down in the Music," this tribute to the written word invites readers to look within themselves and discover what inspires them.

This P picture book contains assorted poems by the author accompanied by some unique 'stitched' illustrations. I would like to use this book for CR where students can practice reading poems they select to their peers or the teacher. I found a resource that shows how to have a “Poet of the Day“ during national poetry month (April) http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/calendar-activities/april-nati...

practice and performance is perfect for use with poetry in the classroom. I also think ESOL Strategy 16. Integrate speaking, listening, reading and writing activities fits best with a CR activity for students. #ucflae3414sp20

DrSpalding Eloise greenfield is a fabulous children‘s poet. This anthology is one that should be in your classroom library. Choral reading works well with sharing poems. 5y

This cute little book is a P book that has 21 poems illustrated with sewn fabric collages and other adorable features. This tribute makes readers look within themselves to discover what inspires them. I think this book would help students fall in love with poetry for its simplistic beauty. I would use this for RT and have my students recite a poem to the class and then discuss what we think the poem means. This entire website is dedicated to
