I read this book because I love Hawthorne, and there were lyrical passages of this book that I loved (such as the above quote!), but overall it dragged.

Finally finished reading this. It was an okay read. The romance was sweet and fun. And I liked getting a small peek into what Nathaniel Hawthorne's life might have been like.

lynneamch I enjoyed her Hemmingway's Girl and 8y

Pickpick

Loved Robuck's delving into the mind of Sophia Peabody Hawthorne. What an artist and strong mother and wife. I would never have known, and I appreciated this glimpse into Hawthorne's life as well.
