Pickpick

Fans of Stephen King and Dean Koontz will probably enjoy this coming of age story. I liked it but I want to be very clear about the fact that this book is crazy unrealistic. The events, the actions, the kid behavior, the adult behavior - none of this rings true at all despite this genre being realistic fiction. So, expect over the top events. There were also mistakes made with the time frame that bugged me. But, it was a fun mess!

Pickpick

Heavily influenced by the writing of Ray Bradbury and Stephen King, this novel about a group of misfits on a dangerous adventure plays out like the 80's classics The Body (also known by the film name Stand By Me) and The Goonies. I feel like this story was written as an homage to the author's major influences and it was incredibly entertaining though unoriginal.

"To Mom and Dad, for allowing—and encouraging—their weird son to read whatever he wanted."

It's funny that I relate to this so much. I always read and watch the weirdest stuff. #weird
