"Meet Holly Hughes, a moderately successful teen advice columnist living in a studio apartment on the Upper East Side with her boyfriend Stephen. She has it all, but at the ripe age of thirty-one, she wants more. She wants to be married, she wants a family, and she's going to have it all with Stephen. At least, that's what she thought, until Stephen announces he's gay, and the domino effect of unfortunate events begins. She soon finds herself unemployed, single, and living in her sister's house on Long Island, working as her niece's babysitter for less than minimum wage. She's pretty certain she's destined to live in the Land of Mediocrity forever. And then, her niece runs face-first into a tall, handsome man at the bookstore" -- Amazon.com.

This went from a 2 at the beginning to a 4 in the middle to a 3 at the end. There was a lot of cursing at the beginning that almost turned me off, but I pushed through & it trickled off, so how necessary was it? I fell in love with the characters & then the typical “gotta make them fight” happens. If you‘re going to do this trope, PLEASE do not have alternating chapters so that I, as the reader, know each motivation. That makes me want to throw ⬇️

Clwojick Great job! 1y
TheAromaofBooks Fantastic review!! It drives me crazy when that extra disagreement is thrown in at the end... it always feels like the author just wanted their book to be longer. 1y
keys_on_fire @TheAromaofBooks Thanks!! And yes! Especially when one of them ends of being hypocritical and then they get ‘woke‘ 😂 1y

This book started off slow for me but picked up speed about mid book. In the end, I did enjoy the book. It was a bit predictable however, it was still a fun read.

Pickpick

This was a good book that looks at insecurities and the damage an ex can do in being able to form new relationships. The H is a little bit of a Mary Sue, but with his hang ups caused by his ex, he manages to be human. I always like stories that involve books, and besides the H being an author, the h and H meet in a bookstore where she takes her niece to storytime.
