Started a touch slowly, a bit unfortunate in something so short to begin with, but I do love a good stranger coming to a creepy, remote household trope. Nice eerie ending.

Distracted myself with the 2017 Nebula for Best Novelette (shorter than a novella, longer than a short story). Following after The Changeling, all I can say is that I‘m reading a whole lot of weird & horrifying—and loving it—this weekend. Helen accepts a job caring for the orphaned nephew of a friend in Germany. I don‘t want to say too much more except excellent writing & loads of tension in this horror novelette. A good, super creepy read.
