A masterpiece of suspense from #1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Child Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, eyes on the road. Another man next to him, telling stories that don't add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And next to her, a huge man with a broken nose, hitching a ride east to Virginia. An hour behind them, a man lies stabbed to death in an old pumping station. He was seen going in with two others, but he never came out. He has been executed, the knife work professional, the killers vanished. Within minutes, the police are notified. Within hours, the FBI descends, laying claim to the victim without ever saying who he was or why he was there. All Reacher wanted was a ride to Virginia. All he did was stick out his thumb. But he soon discovers he has hitched more than a ride. He has tied himself to a massive conspiracy that makes him a threat--to both sides at once. In Lee Child's white-hot thriller, nothing is what it seems, and nobody is telling the truth. As the tension rises, the twists come fast and furious, keeping readers guessing and gasping until the explosive finale. Praise for #1 bestselling author Lee Child and his Reacher series "Child is a superb craftsman of suspense."--Entertainment Weekly "The truth about Reacher gets better and better."--Janet Maslin, The New York Times "Implausible, irresistible Reacher remains just about the best butt-kicker in thriller-lit."--Kirkus Reviews "Like his hero Jack Reacher, Lee Child seems to make no wrong steps."--Associated Press "Lee Child [is] the current poster-boy of American crime fiction."--Los Angeles Times "Indisputably the best escape artist in this escapist genre."--Marilyn Stasio, The New York Times "Jack Reacher is much more like the heir to the Op and Marlowe than Spenser ever was."--Esquire

While hitchhiking to Virginia, Jack is offered a ride in a car with two men and one woman who claim to be business associates traveling for work. This car ride evolves into a mysterious mess that can only happen to Jack Reacher. So grateful for my signed copy. #MountTBR

These books are my guilty pleasure. There is nothing I can say about this book that does not apply to all of the Jack Reacher books. I love Jack.

I think I‘m now caught up on the adventures of Jack Reacher. This one was quite the thriller, too. I do enjoy how Jack‘s escapades take him all over the country. Wonder where he‘ll go next?

Can't beat a bit of al fresco evening reading and finishing one of my major guilty pleasures - Lee Child's Jack Reacher. This is no. 17 in the Reacher series and despite it being formulaic and predictable, it is just pure escapism. You don't have to think hard, it's not taxing at all - just lie back and read. I whipped through this 500+ page novel in no time and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm almost ashamed to admit it but this is a🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read.

TrishB I have a couple of series like that, comfort reads! 6y
CRR 2/3 through it now...different but the same! Great read! 6y

Lee Child comes through with another great beach read. I love picking up jack reacher, because I know what to expect and I know I won‘t be able to put it down. Reacher is picked up along the highway and of course becomes involved in solving a terrorist plot. Same amount of blood but less romance than usual. #beachread #pageturner

I throughly liked this book and love reading Lee Child..his character Reacher is enjoyable. A very fast paced book and to the point...leaves you wondering who, what, where, and when. I will definitely read more of Lee Child.

If you want a sophisticated character, do not read this book. If you want a book with an 'off the radar' All-American hero with choppy dialogue and writing with the hilarious added bonus that the main character's physical description is absolutely nothing like Tom Cruise, then read this book. Traded this book for another in Venice. It was a good train/plane/travel book.
