No chance of a #bookspinbingo for July—I was all over the board! But I read some wonderful books and had a lot of fun. I had a hard time deciding between two favorites of the month to tag for this post—and the two favorites are both f/f romances so I guess you know what I like 😆

This was just about everything I could have asked for in an Emma modernization! (I did wish for more of the Jane character.) It was beautifully faithful, with a sexy genderbent Knightley. Theo‘s greatest virtue is, like Emma, her devotion to her father. And now I really want to go to Hawaii—a small island town was a great choice to make the setting still work. #pemberlittens

And now I‘d better get to Rule of Wolves if 17 people are waiting 😬😂

#PemberLittens @sprainedbrain I'm probably going to end up reading this retelling early so that it coincides with #pridemonth. I may not enjoy the orginal (still my least fave at the mo, even though it has my fave proposal in it) but can't wait to get to this one!

This retelling of Emma was DELIGHTFUL! All the characters and plot points from the original were here- just updated to today, in Hawaii, with a F/F romance. It worked really well! 👍👍

DGRachel Emma is one of my least favorite Austen novels, but I adored this one last year! 5y

bookandbedandtea @DGRachel Same! I'd say Emma is my fourth fave Austen; she can be pretty hard to take. So can Theodosia, for that matter, but, still, this whole book was charming. 5y

If you‘re a fan of Austen‘s Emma or just want a lighter read where no one dies a detailed, violent death, then this may be for you. This is a decent retelling/modernization of Emma, set in present day Hawaii with a f/f romance. Everything I detest about Emma is here and the “badly done, Theo (Emma)” scene is just as cringeworthy as in the original, but the book is short and not bad, overall. It gets a pick for being exactly what it claims to be.
