#OnThisDay in 1969 Nobel Prize winning poet Giorgos Seferis appeared on BBC World Service to denounce the right-wing military junta controlling Greece. As an internationally recognized poet and diplomat, those in power felt they could not risk imprisoning (or "disappearing") Seferis, instead took his passport and made it illegal to read his works. Seferis cont'd his resistance, but passed away before the junta fell in 1974. #HistoryGetsLIT
