A group of school kids and their teacher get stranded and take shelter in an old house. There they discover an old book that leads them on a magical journey.

I would say that this book is aimed at pre- teens but don't let that stop you. This is a beautiful story which I can't wait to share with my kids when they are older.

From the Aussie Children‘s Book Awards 2019 . I just loved this book. I don‘t think I‘ve read anything before by her . So glad I took the time to read this one. A very worthy winner. @MrsMalaprop

Oh boy, I cannot say enough about how good this book is. A junior fiction novel that gave me as much pleasure as my 9 year old. The writing is stunning, from the superb Emily Rodda. The story within a story take is thrilling, suspenseful and fantastical. The whole thing is an absolute treasure and would make a perfect shared reading experience (teachers, parents etc take note!!)

Junior fiction by the extraordinary Emily Rodda. It‘s creepy in all the best ways and the story within the story is utterly spellbinding.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I love Emily Rodda! I‘m so glad she‘s “back”! 6y
Joanne1 @thegirlwiththelibrarybag my daughter has just discovered her and is in absolute love. Though she hasn‘t done the Deltora quest books. 6y
Readergrrl I‘m inspired to bring her to my daughter!! 6y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Joanne1, her back catalogue is vast and impressive! I wish your daughter many happy Rodda reading hours ☺️ 6y
Joanne1 @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I know!! The Rodda section at the library I work at is vast. I‘m not sure all will be to her taste but even so there is much to explore!! 6y
Joanne1 @Readergrrl do, she‘s great!! My daughters favourites so far are the fairy realm books, The Shop at Hoppers Bend and this one. She‘s also started the Keys to Rondo series I think. 6y
