pickI like that Lorrek has magic and knows how to use it, vs struggling to understand it like a lot of fantasy books do. The hints at the backstory kept pulling me along and I enjoyed the story and imagery. My only complaint is the head-hopping within the same chapters, sometimes with up to four characters. I feel it would have been a smoother read had the author simply separated the hops with a small break or something.
