From the New York Times bestselling author of The Bookshop at Waters End, here is a lush, heart-wrenching novel about the power of memory, the meaning of family, and learning to forgive. Ten years ago, Lena Donohue experienced a wedding-day betrayal so painful that she fled the small town of Watersend, South Carolina, and reinvented herself in New York City. Though now a freelance travel writer, the one place she rarely goes is homeuntil she learns of her dads failing health. Returning to Watersend means seeing the sister she has avoided for a decade and the brother who runs the familys Irish pub and has borne the burden of his sisters rift. While Alzheimers slowly steals their fathers memories, the siblings rush to preserve his life in stories and in photographs. As his secret past brings Lenas own childhood into focus, it sends her on a journey to discover the true meaning of home.

Mehso-so

Unfortunately, THE FAVORITE DAUGHTER was a miss, for me there where too many dislikes. 1. The relationship between sisters was very predictable. 2. The story had to many repeatitive details. 3. There was too many sterotypes in her scene descriptions and complexities of family. 4. The dialogue just felt forced. Obviously the novel is about the importance of memory and here is where the author did a good job, and the only reason I finished the book

https://www.bluestockingreviews.com/post/the-favorite-daughter-1 THE FAVORITE DAUGHTER is a brilliantly written, emotional novel steeped in a family drama of betrayal, secrets and forgiveness. The characters are delightfully well-developed and you can‘t help but feel their angst and pain.

5 ☆ The story backdrop is their father‘s Alzheimer‘s bringing Colleen home to S Carolina after living in NY for ten years. It‘s storyline is about a sisters betrayal, the aftermath and a father‘s shocking secret. Family drama, yes, but the memories of home and love of family are the emotional touching sentiments that give you hope for this family‘s second-chance. I also enjoyed the Irish references throughout and fun Irish quotes.

Nothing like taking the trash out on a Saturday morning and seeing book mails on the lawnmower 🤷🏻‍♀️. So excited for this one!

I got to spend today with the lovely Patti Callahan Henry selling books at an event she was speaking at on Dafuskie Island. It‘s a rough life when a workday means listening to a talented author speak. Now I get a head start on her new book due out in June.
