Anyone: A Novel | Charles Soule
post image

Sneaking this in in between book club commitments. On a related note, if you haven‘t already read Oracle Year by Charles Soule, do yourself a favor and get on it!

vivastory The description calls it Blade Runner crossed with Get Out, but I honestly thought Recursion crossed with Altered Carbon. I love Soule's Curse Words & enjoyed Oracle Years, so I will check this out.. 2d
Schlinkles @vivastory Those are the two I was thinking of too when I read the description! 2d
vivastory Glad to hear that 😄 sometimes I think my comparisons are off the mark 2d
Hooked_on_books I really liked The Oracle Year, so I‘ll definitely look for this one. I‘m glad you posted this! 2d

Holy cliffhanger, Batman. And this is why I don‘t normally read books in a series until they‘re all out.

Clutterbucks_Queen I'm like that with books and TV programmes haha! I always wait for the full series to be out before i venture into it! I'm too impatient to wait! 5d

It‘s always a bonus when the Sci-fi and Fantasy book club pick for the month happens to be an ARC you‘ve had forever.

First off, it feels like it took me forever to get through this. Not because it wasn‘t good cause it was, it just isn‘t a quick read. I love how each chapter focuses on one hockey match of the season and also one of the team members. It allows you to get to know all the characters. Lots of fun pop culture references throughout.

November's pick for our Tequila Mockingbird book club and as I've been rereading this I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm actually enjoying it this time.

Becker I thought this book had such a sense of being in the moment. I read it as a teenager and I had never experienced that before. It made a lasting impression on me. 11h

I really enjoyed Grady‘s unique take on vampires, which wasn‘t an easy feat. Also being from the south himself, Grady nails the idiosyncrasies of southern culture. This is a quick, fun read. 4/5⭐️

This #lmpbc pick will be coming your way soon @TsundokuAleax and @bookandcat

I finished today and don‘t even have words! Aaaaahhhhhhhhh so good!

TsundokuAleax Omg, I am dying to read anything by Erin since we had to wait so long for another book. 1mo
Schlinkles @TsundokuAleax It was totally worth the wait. The writing is so beautiful and familiar. It‘s like hanging out with an old friend. 1mo
TsundokuAleax @Schlinkles I kinda want to reread Night Circus before I read this. For no other reason than it has been way too long since I read it. 1mo
Schlinkles @TsundokuAleax I reread Night Circus right before reading this too. I highly recommend it! 1mo

I‘ve had this ARC since January but haven‘t been able to bring myself to read it yet. I just finished rereading The Night Circus and fell in love with it all over again. The Starless Sea is the book I‘ve been anticipating since I finished The Night Circus the first time. I haven‘t even begun and I already don‘t want it to be over.

I enjoyed this for the most part. I thought the pieces where she took well known tales and told them from every character‘s perspective were the ones that made the biggest impression. @TsundokuAleax @bookandcat

TsundokuAleax I love her poems about the villains. They were fascinating and wonderful. I am finding the memes about understanding Disney villains more as I get older to be very accurate. 2mo

I‘m loving the show and I love the premise of this, but I think the comic execution, at least in this first volume, isn‘t the best. My husband assures me it improves so I‘ll keep reading eventually.

Mark Russell is unbelievable. Just like his take on the Flintstones, this is a brilliant political satire. This is a look at what it means to be an American set against a cold war McCarthy backdrop. In the words of S.P., “There‘s no such thing as a free country without it‘s subversives, radicals and undesirables.”

This month‘s graphic novel book pick, super groovy art work and a spy story! I really enjoyed this in spite of some issues. The shape of the word balloons was annoying, they looked like thoughts 💭 not speech. And Erik...what a gross human.
