This poetry book was definitely not my favorite but it did have positive tones throughout, the images extended the text, and the poems flowed well.

I may not use this in a classroom because it is not particularly engaging for children. It shows them shapes within nature which may interest some students, but most likely not the majority.

I did not have a particularly favorite quote as this poem book was more informative than laid back and fun.

I would use this in my classroom to spark my students' creativity if they are struggling with poetry.

This collection of poems does a good job of keeping the readers guessing on what's next and will have them engaged throughout. There is a very positive tone throughout the poems and the images helped to extend the text.

I was not interested in this poem but the book was full of many other good ones.

The circle is the poem that I read and this poem seem to be forces. they are trying to describe a circle the poem doesn't even sound good. the rhythm is no good.

To tell the truth,
The gator's tooth---
Triangular in shape--
Is dangerous
And dagger-ous
When that great mouth's agape.

This book would be very good to use for young readers. They would be very fascinated by the images and how the writing moves around the images. Most children wouldn't have read anything like that at this stage of their life. I would put this in my library and patiently wait for the day one child finally picks up the book.

This book is a great way to get little minds interested in poetry. Each poem focuses on shape and form in nature. These poems do something interesting where they match the mood of the picture they describe. I found my eyes drooping reading the moon poem, but getting more excited reading the oval egg poem. The sensory images in this book are really well done and creates a fantastic collection.

I loved this poem in the book specifically because I remember my own librarian emphasizing the haiku unit!!

I love how the different shape names are shown throughout the pictures.

Published in 2007, this book has several different styles of poetry including a wide variety of rhythm, haikus, and beginning to end rhyming patterns. Not only will it introduce different forms of poems, but it will help with math standards (OMG!) by showing the different shapes in nature.

Shape Me a Rhyme by Jane Yolen (poetry, published 2007) is a book of rhyming poetry. The pictures are all photographs of nature, but the poem is based around the shapes seen in the photo. It also included other things to call the same, so it shows nature and discusses shape all while rhyming. A really good, very informational book

I like this book because it teaches the students a lesson about each of the shapes! It also shows where you can find them.

Shape Me a Rhyme was published in 2007 by Jane Yolen. The book goes through a number of shapes and has a short rhyming story that goes with each. It also ties in where you can find each of the shapes out in nature.

I would have this in my classroom because the children would get exposed to poetry and learn about shapes. They also would learn cool facts about things.

Shape Me A Rhyme by Jane Yolen, 2007. Poetry. The poems in the book were really cool. I enjoyed that the shapes related to something like animals, nature, and seasons. The poems rhythm which makes it fun to read.

This book would be a great read for young children who are interested in nature and the world around them.

This poetry book is very descriptive about nature. It wants to make you guess about what type of object it is describing. It also contains different types of poems from repetitive to haiku.

I really enjoy this book and how not only is it teaching the kids poetry but it‘s helping them with shapes. They relate the shapes and poems to things that students know.

Love the illustrations!

This book is great with learning colors, shapes, animals, and new words. Would be good to leave out for kindergarteners.
