I would not have this book in my classroom. It is very long and it was hard for me to read and stay focused.

Drawinf From Memory by Allen Say, 2011. This book was about Allen Say and his journey to become an cartoonist. It was a struggle for him to get where he is today. His own father shunned him and his whole family. He found a mentor and now he is successful.

I do not think younger children would be able to listen to the whole story. I think this book is better for older children.

Jack‘s Path Of Courage by Rappaport/Tavares. I did not even know JFK‘s name was Jack that was something new I leaned while reading this book. The Illustrations in this book are very realistic. JFK inspired people all over the globe. JFK was suddenly shot in November 1963.

This book would be perfect for my classroom. The sentences are short and easy. The children would be able to read it alone.

Snails are Just My Speed! By Kevin McCloskey, 2018. This book is about snails. It is super cute and short so I think children would really enjoy this book. Each page has a new fact about the snail.

I would have this book in my classroom. It would be a more challenging read but I think the students would like the pictures.

Star of the Sea by Janet Halfmann, 2011. This book is about a sea star and it‘s adventurers in the ocean. Each page is a new fact about the sea star. The pictures fill the page and are colorful which makes the learning more enjoyable. In the back of the book it gives more details.

This book is perfect for early childhood! The pictures are bright and the words are short and easy.

Gusts and Galesburg Josepha Sherman, 2004. This book is about wind. This book has simple words and pictures that fill the page. Each page is a different fact about wind and where it came from, how it begins, warm and cool air, global winds, local winds, and many other things.

This book would be good for 5th graders and up. The words are harder and there are paragraphs throughout the book. The book was very informative and if children wanted to learn about Albert Einstein this book would be perfect.

Odd Boy Out by Don Brown, 2004. I learned that Albert Einstein‘s grandmother thought his head was too big. Albert had a lot of angry growing up. Growing up Albert is the odd one out. Albert came up with theories of relativity, and E = Mc2. Which means automatic door openers, television, space travel, and atomic energy.

This book would be a good one to read since it‘s about a women. It also teaches the kids to keep believing in themselves and never give up.

Fancy Party Gowns by Deborah Blumenthal, 2017. This book was not written that long ago which means the information is more recent. I also like how an African American is featured in the front of the book. Ann Cole Lowe always new had to sew. When she was younger her mom and grandma taught her. The book touches on how it wasn‘t always easy for Ann because she was an African American. Nothing stopped Ann she continued to create beautiful dresses.

This book would be good for older children. I do not think I would have this in my classroom.

When Marian Sang by Pam Muñoz Ryan. This book was about Marian and her love to sing. The illustrations are big and in brown and black dark colors. It talked about the prejudice Marian had to go through and how unfair things were because of the color of her skin. Marian finally achieved her dreams and sang in front of lots of people . She sang for kings, and queens, presidents and prime ministers, famous composers and conductors.

This would be good for older kids who loves science and very interested in butterflies, winter birds, spring frogs, and summer ladybugs.

Citizen Scientist by Loewe Griffin Burns, 2012. This book was set up like a chapter book. It is very lengthy but it did include pictures. There is something for everyone in this book.

Children would love this book. The love learning about animals and they would think it‘s really cool to see how tall they are.

Apex Predators by Steve Jenkins, 2017. This book is pretty up to date only 2 years old. It talks about the most dangerous predators alive and dead. The images are super sharp and look real. I like how they put the heights of the animals compared to humans.

I would have this book in my classroom for older children. There were a lot of facts throughout this book so younger children probably wouldn‘t be as interested.

Bird Talk by Lita Judge, 2012. The cover page is really cute and the title Bird Talk is funny. It teaches children why birds make certain noises and what those noises mean almost like they are talking. The Illustrations are cute. I like how the facts are scattered throughout the page.

This would be a really good book for younger children when you talk about the Underground Railroad and slaves escaping. It is a hard topic to talk about but this book makes it simple.

Underground by Shane W. Evans, 2011. The book is very short and the words are easy. I like the illustrations they fill up the entire page. You almost don‘t need the words because the pictures tell the story. It is the journey of slaves becoming free.

This book is kid friendly I like how there are basic facts but in the bottom of the page there are more facts.

Good Trick Walking Stick by Sheri M. Bestor, 2016. The cover page is very fun and cute. I like how the author used different sizes fonts. I also liked how there were facts at the bottom of the pages. The pictures are fun and I enjoyed learning about the walking sticks.

I will definitely have this book in my classroom. It is important to teach children about 9/11 and this book does it in a simply way with kid friendly illustrations

American Is Under Attack by Don Brown, 2011. This book told the tragedy that happened on 9/11. It told the story from start to finish and did not leave any details out. The illustrations are very good.

This book would be perfect for younger children who are interested in coyotes. The book isn‘t super wordy and an easy read.

Coyote Moon by Bagram Ibatoulline, 2016. This book told the story about how coyotes have to hunt for their food and it can be challenging some times. The words are short and easy. The book is very easy to follow along and learn about coyotes.

I think this book would be good for older kids. Younger kids would not be able to read this book. The themes in this book are more mature such as, homelessness during the Great Depression and racism.

The Mighty Miss Malone by Christopher Paul Curtis, 2012. Deza is the smartest girl in her class, she has been told there is a special path for her in life. The Great Depression has hit and her father lost his job and had to move away. Deza really earns her name Mighty Miss Malone. She had to go through a lot.

I think this book would be good for older children. Younger children may not understand what the book is trying to convey.
