Nonfiction. This is a great book for a classroom because it‘s nonfiction that everyone can enjoy. The illustrations take the words right out of your mouth and making learning about a farm, which isn‘t always the most interesting for everyone, really engaging and fun.

The Story of a Farm by John S. Goodall, 1989. This is a wonderful nonfiction book because it provides the history in a different way. There are no words, only pictures. This allows for children who can‘t quite read and children and adults who don‘t consider themselves readers to learn and enjoy the history of the farm. And because the book is all in pictures, the illustrations really do tell the story as well as any words.

The set-up of this book was so cool because in between every full page, there was a half page that could be flipped to change the story, yet still flowed cohesively with the rest of the illustrations.

This book showed a farm through the seasons and all the changes it‘s made. Although it‘s not a typical biography, it highlights small details that shape the farm. I loved looking throughout the book.
