I swear Brackston has this beautiful, poetic mastery of the English language. While her books are often set in modern times, there‘s this old world, historical feel about her writing that is just beautiful. Basically, reading one of her books makes me feel like an adult. I think I still prefer The Witch‘s Daughter over this one, but it‘s also just a good book. I love Brackston‘s stories of natural witches. Plus this one had a ghost!
Anyone read either of these? If so, your thoughts? They weren‘t super popular books when I bought them. Had them for a few years now and haven‘t read them. So many other shiny new books came out and took my attention away. The quarantine has me reading books that have been waiting for me on my shelves.
Meh. I was underwhelmed. The story was good enough, but I was increasingly annoyed by the awkward and unpolished writing. At times I felt I was reading mediocre fan fiction, rather than a published work. Disappointed.
Perfectly paired with the slow, rich journey through 10th and 21st Century Wales I‘ve been on this weekend, reading The Silver Witch by Paula Brackston.
The Silver Witch, by Paula Brackston, takes place in the Powys region of Wales, an area known for its ruggedly beautiful and veritably mystical landscape, which she captures beautifully. Brackston's even hand and natural story telling talent make for an enjoyable read, perfect for a cold winter night spent by the fire. https://booktrekker.wordpress.com/2018/01/31/the-silver-witch-by-paula-brackston...
I've been trying to spend as many mornings as I can in bed reading before my season officially starts and and my free time diminishes. I've been pulling from my shelves and not buying new books. Hoping to get a good chunk of my unread books completed this year.
This is next up!

I'm enjoying all of my current reads but....it's Halloween and I NEED a witch book. Brackston knows her way around a witch tale, so here we go. 🎃⛧
The Silver Witch by Paula Brackston is the most wonderful book. It's so inspiring and freeing. Brackston has the most amazing voice and writes so eloquently. She will forever be my favorite author.
