This is such a necessary and inclusive book. Some bodies have sperm. Some bodies have eggs. You need both to make a baby. My critique is in the description of the sperm and egg dancing and telling stories and becoming one brand new thing. I‘m okay with not giving kids details they haven‘t asked for, but it would be simpler and less confusing to say that the sperm and the egg combine and create something that can grow into a baby. Krisjericho The metaphor is too glib for kids. Just tell it like it is. Kids will ask if they want to know more. It‘s okay to just say it plainly.

That being said, this is leaps ahead of so many other books about how babies are made.

this book is AMAZING! it is gender-neutral, adoption/surrogate friendly, trans-friendly, basically the ultimate book for how babies work without gender stereotyping. plus, ADORABLE.
