Mehso-so

This book was uneven. The writing is sometimes meandering and clunky. There are weird quirks in the story and about humans in the future that are just odd (like what in the hell is up with dueling?). The book starts interestingly enough...an astronaut returns to Earth after having been gone for twenty years. It‘s soon prophesied he‘ll write a book that will change the world. He‘ll be a salvation-like figure, but to whom? The androids or humans?

JoeMo The book is interesting thanks to some of the twists and turns and the efforts of both human and android factions to persuade the main character to their side. What doesn‘t work is that although interesting, the book comes off as overly simplistic in ways I‘m leaving out. It had a great twist at the end that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was engaging and thought provoking enough that even if I didn‘t love it,I‘ll try more of Simak‘s work in the future 4y

Pickpick

Sutton, back on Earth after being lost in space for 20 yrs. He is destined to write a societal paradigm changing book that everyone wants to influence or prevent.

Philosophical SciFi about the nature of mankind/human "superiority" over all, the concept of race, religion, the power of the mind and influence of corporations on goverment policy and expansion in space. This all seems very current for a novel published in 1951.??
