#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER They call themselves the Brethren: three disgraced former judges doing time in a Florida federal prison. One was sent up for tax evasion. Another, for skimming bingo profits. The third for a career-ending drunken joyride. Meeting daily in the prison law library, taking exercise walks in their boxer shorts, these judges-turned-felons can reminisce about old court cases, dispense a little jailhouse justice, and contemplate where their lives went wrong. Or they can use their time in prison to get very richvery fast. And so they sit, sprawled in the prison library, furiously writing letters, fine-tuning a wickedly brilliant extortion scamwhile events outside their prison walls begin to erupt. A bizarre presidential election is holding the nation in its grips, and a powerful government figure is pulling some very hidden strings. For the Brethren, the timing couldnt be better. Because theyve just found the perfect victim. BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from John Grisham's The Litigators.

I recently came across this book by John Grisham called The Brethren. It‘s a 1st edition by Century books. What‘s intriguing me is the cover and the pirate image on the pages! Does anyone know anything about it? I can‘t find ANYTHING on the internet at all!

Dawny1 I have since discovered that there is an art called ‘Book Folding‘,where you fold the pages of a book at certain marked points to create a picture! 2y

Well, this was a John Grisham legal thriller comedy. I enjoyed reading the newly formed scam of 3 federally imprisoned judges come together with the story of the squeaky clean congressman being molded into a presidential candidate by the CIA. It was election year fun.

My husband, a huge Grisham fan, was very excited that I was reading this book for the PopSugar Challenge so we could talk about it afterwards. I love stories with multiple plotlines all coming together, but I wish it came with more likeable characters and less cynicism about the impact of money on the campaign process. Great characters in the Brethren, though!

Grisham's Brethren was a nice book. It was easy to read and I enjoyd the look in prison life and how presidential elections work. It's fictional book ofcourse so I don't take it as an actual fact but still... This wasn't the best Grisham I have read but it was very entertaining.
