pickIt took me awhile to get into this book. I wanted to put it down many times—melancholy is the word for it. But I didn‘t want to leave these characters. And at the end of the book, I wanted to follow them.

Was enjoying this book until this sentence. This book is set in 1920. Pretty sure a WWI Veteran's prosthetic wasn't made out of plastic. That will bug me the rest of the book.
My kids have a little over 3 weeks of school left. I cannot wait! We are going to have a 1970's summer this year. No devices from sun up til sun down and they each have to read at least one book a week. This is going to be especially hard for my 13 year old Aspie bc he loves his video games, but I know they need this.
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ great book with history, emotion and character. Intertwined stories of Ada, Evelyn & Hettie in the wake of WW1 with the overlaying story of the person they lost and the futility of war. Powerful and a literary page turner for me. Felt like real people's lives. Highly recommended.
pickIn this beautifully written book, the wake of World War One is experienced through the lives of three women living in London. They experience loss, sadness and difficulties on their road to recovery and survival. As the dust of WW1 settles, hope arises and they are able to thrive once again.
