As a person with PTSD from sexual abuse, Tears of Frost portrays the shame and guilt felt by victims for years after. At first I didn't know if I was going to enjoy it as a sequel to Heart of Thorns, but it worked really well and you can tell Bree Barton wrote this as part of her own healing journey. I appreciated her note to the reader at the beginning disclosing the themes of the book as well as how she included numbers to helplines.
