Another romance that I was wary of because of the title...and it was great!

It starts off with a rape and a murder in the PROLOGUE 😯

Alexandra is a heroine to be admired. And I love the friendship between the three girls.

This is the first book in a series and I'd love to read more.

Trigger warning for an intense rape scene in the prologue, I will not hide that as a spoiler because it‘s there and it‘s horrible. The rest of the book is a 10 out of 10 though with the relationship between Piers and Alexandra being full of tension, romance, wit, and fun. I couldn‘t get enough of this story finishing it in a night with the murder and love wrapping it all up in a nice little bow. Byrne is now an auto buy author for me!

10 days? Sure! Why not? So, this book was recommended on an ig dig for historical romance gold. The story was so well written. I‘m a sucker for strong heroines and witty dialogue. A million x yes to this one. I wait anxiously for the next book. FYI, do not read the epilogue, it‘ll give too much away. At least it did in my opinion. These girls were brave and ruthless and I loved their bond and friendship.

I will warn those who are sensitive to traumatic subjects that the start of this story will be difficult for you BUT I implore you to stay the course. It is an absolute gem. The romance aspect of this story was breathtaking! Both characters honed and sharpened what was developing between them and it made the romance memorable, breathtaking, and off the charts swoony! It is raw, sensual, dangerous, and I loved it! Can‘t wait for the next book!

Kerrigan Byrne writes really lovely stories, with plenty of tension, a little mystery, and a great deal of heat. The heroine, Alexandra has major trauma in her past. She meets our dark, brooding hero, Piers Atherton, Duke of Redmayne, who turns out to have a heart of gold, at least where Alex is concerned. Good discussion around consent and I love how Piers is respectful of Alex‘s needs. I just wish this had the humor of Tessa Dare‘s books.

DGRachel Thanks to #NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. 5y
I_Like_Big_Books I was able to meet her last weekend in Dallas. She is super sweet and down to earth. ❤️ I‘ve only read one of her books but after meeting her, I want to read more! 5y
DGRachel @I_Like_Big_Books Nice! I love meeting authors. I really liked the two books of hers that I've read, they're just much more serious and less playful than some other authors and that silliness is something that I gravitate towards and find that I miss. 5y

I‘ve been struggling to really sink into most of my books this month, but I‘ve had excellent luck with romances, so I thought I‘d start this NetGalley ARC. The problem is, Kerrigan Byrne lacks the laugh-out-loud humor of Tessa Dare and Sarah MacLean. The writing so far is good, but I miss the humor. Also, the prologue has a really intense scene - trigger warning in the comments. I‘m still a little shaken because it was unexpected.

DGRachel The prologue contains a pretty intense rape scene, where out heroine is raped by the headmaster at her boarding school when she‘s 17 and she kills him. The prologue is important because you learn why the three girls have such a close, strong bond, but if rape and/or abuse of a minor is a trigger for you, I‘d suggest skipping the prologue. 5y
CoffeeK8 I love her, but i totally agree, not a lot of humor but usually a really good story to sink into 5y
DGRachel @CoffeeK8 Yes. This is my second book by her and I thought the other was a great love story, just without the belly laughs. 5y
