Masquerade | Cyrus Parker, Dropkickpoet
3 posts | 2 read | 1 to read
Non-binary poet Cyrus Parker returns with an all-new collection of poetry and prose dedicated to those struggling to find their own identity in a world that often forces one into the confines of what's considered "socially acceptable." Divided into three parts and illustrated by Parker, masquerade grapples with topics such as the never-ending search for acceptance, gender identity, and relationships, and the struggle to recognize your own face after hiding behind another for so long.

I read this on July 18 & gave it 4 ⭐️. I liked the flow of the book. And considering the reading slump I had in July, I enjoyed the fact that this book was one I did not want to put down.

I loved so much of this book! Lovely and moving poetry that is perfect for those who are finding their own identity in a society that loves to place ppl into specified pegs that we simply don‘t fit inside. Part i & iii were my favorites!! I didn‘t connect with part ii and it‘s content disrupted the flow a bit, but other than that I LOVED the rest! I will be buying a copy of this for my personal poetry bookshelf! Go check it out 🖤

TrishB Great review, I‘m interested in having a look at this one! 5y

So far really liking this collection of poetry! I finally joined Netgalley and this is my first read! Didn‘t realize he was married to Amanda Lovelace (author of the “Princess Saves Herself in this One”).
